Hi all, I'm new this club. Has been SAHM 10 yrs ago and still is...my 2 daughters are in P2 & P4. Just let go of maid of 8 years last year and coping the daily runs all by myself. Sad to say, hubby dun help much. Everyday, I've to wake up at 5.30am, prepare BF for the girls. Home is 17km away from sch so hubby has to leave home at 6.30am to send them to sch. I will return to my dreamland till 8.30am.So... anyone else care to share their daily runs with the house & kiddies?
And also hope to hear more on what makes YOU happy?
YOU as in yourself as a person and not the SAHM-you okie?
What do you ladies like to do when you're not busy with endless household
projects, children and hubbies? Or do you have any ME time at all?
After my daily laundry and breakfast, it's the time for myself to catch up w my friends over the MSN, playing Farmville & Cafe games at FaceBook and clearing emails. Have to leave home by 1pm to fetch my girls for lunch together (if i dun cook by the morning).
By the time we're back home, it is usually 3pm, they have to bath & do their homework. I'll do some housework and prepare simple dinner. We will have dinner when hubby is back ard 6pm. The girls will sleep ard 9pm and hubby & I will have time for ourselves! I'm happy to read my magazines, shop ard the malls, play FB games and pamper myself to nice meals. Once a while, I'll meet my old friends for a buffet. Currently, I'm planning for my family June holiday. Yearly travel makes me happy and looking forward to it.

Hi celinequek,
Welcome aboard! Seems you're managing your time pretty well w/o a maid! Still have time to play FB games
! Our maid will be leaving soon and we once thought of just hiring a part-time to clean & cook, but decided to delay this for at least 2 more years till both kids are in primary school.
I also enjoy the occasional gatherings with friends and vacations. However, sometimes travelling is even more stressful than staying at home. Hopefully it'll get better when my kids are bigger

Hi Minnie2004, how old are your kids? Sure it is stressful to travel with young children. Just to share my experience, I trained my girls to walk the park so often that they could walk 3 hours non-stop at Beijing Forbidden City, no stroller, no carry at all. My girls were only 4 & 6 then. We travel with them every year, and it sure gets better every year. This year, we are ready to fly to Europe.
Iโm very tempted to hire part-time maid too when my FT one was gone. However, after i passed the 1st 3 months "adjustment period" w/o FT maid, I think i can cope. Housework chore is never ending, i tell myself to be less "demanding" and i enjoy the privacy w/o a FT maid at home. Plus, the money saved will be used for more holidays for my family. Itโs a way for me to motivate myself to manage my family all on my own.
During the weekdays, my kids have to attend Guzheng (CCAs in sch) & Wushu (at CC). Weekends, they go for Piano (Yamaha Group Class), Abacus & Arts classes (at CC) together. No tuition at all for them, I want them to manage school work by themselves. My hubby & I just guide them as and when they need help. So far so goodโฆ -
Hi celinequek,
My kids are 3.5 and 6. They can both walk but DS sometimes still wants to be a baby and wants us to carry. We went to Angkor Wat during CNY hence a lot of walking and climbing was expected. DH was fine and she was willing to climb even the steepest staircase! DS on the otherhand, kept asking us to carry esp when he's bored. Although he also enjoyed running around with his sis inside the temples, I think he's still too young to appreciate these kind of historical sites. DH seemed to enjoy the trip more and I tried to explain some history to her. It was also an eye-opener for her when she saw other 6-year old kids chasing tourists all day just trying to sell some handicrafts/postcards for a bit of $$. This made her realize how fortunate she was being able to go to school and have food to eat. So when we visited the temples again the next day, she gave away all her chocolates to those kids  -
Thanks minnie2004 for suggesting me to join this club. Really glad to find a new avenue to pour my 'frustration'
& share my happiness as SAHM.
Hi to all SAHM. -
Hi Mummies,
My kids are 5+ (K2) and 10 years old. Since last year, both are in morning session. Twice a week in morn, I vacuum and mop floorโฆprepare simple lunch. Wash my master bedroom loo everyday. Clothes wash every night in machine.
On other days, I get hubby to accompany me to IMM or Bukit Panjang for a walk (he works from home on some days). Then will packet lunch b4 picking daughter from kindy.
We have no maid for almost 2 years. Housework is very ending, so I just do what I canโฆno tolerance for any maid after the last one. Hubby had paycut, so sending off maid is a blessing. Money saved is used on sonโs English class, swimming & Chinese tuition.
Sat mornings, daughter has Eng/Math P1 preparatory class. Sun morn, son has Jan & Elly Eng. Hubby & I will coach him in his daily work. -

My kids are in separate session. I find it more manageable to handle one each time. Come 2013 they will be in the same session
I find house chores tiring too. Must remind myself house chores are not priority.
Morning typically spend time coaching my elder one and prep for lunch. Afternoon is slightly less pressed for time. Besides coaching my younger one, can squeeze in time to do simple chores like wash dishes, tidy the house, prep for dinner & do laundry thrice a week. Kids will usually help to fold & keep their own clothes. Vaccum done by irobot. The rest of the chores done by hubby. I usually go marketing at ntuc twice a week.
3 Weekday night and over weekends, bring them for enrichment classes.
