PCF/PAP Kindergartens
-
SPIES, i'm talking about childcare. Opps, pardon me, didn't occur to me that the fees are applicable to kindergarten *blur* I saw on the government website that PCF Ayer Rajah takes in children 18 months and above but did not come across any reviews or comments on this branch. So i'm looking at the wrong place since this thread is about PCF kindergarten? Sigh~

Hi, Charmaine. I'm also staying ard, thought puting my girl (next year turn 4) at Blk 31 PCF. Most of the ppl told me not recommended but I wold like to gather more info. How are the teachers there, the turnover rate high? I was told the shcool change to a new principal. How u find your son progress? At this moment my girl is in Magdalene's Kindergarten pre-nursery. Did u consider PCF at Blk 54?Hi,
Anyone has good recommendation of PCF near Paya Lebar, Geylang MRT or Mounbatten.
Considering to put my son 4yo to child care or good PCF next year. He is very mischevious, always do something funny to his sister 21mths old. Very challenging for my maid to look after him.
As in PCF, i am looking for good quality that offers enrichment, so that he will spend more time in school.
Currently he is studying in one near Balam Road, only 2hours for nursery, about $50plus a month. Don't find it good. Has been there since JAn10, no communication book, only see once. Dont know what he is doing in class. Feel like the program not very good. Can see for the price i pay but my son likes to go.
So..... if i change, hope to find one and continue till k2. otherwise, he needs to adjust again. -
hi,
any feedback for blk 157 PCF?? wanna enrol my gal there as blk 45 no more vacancy :? :? -
Hi Mac,
For blk 31, the teachers and pricipal have been changed. The new principal is blur like sotong. Watever questions you asked her, the answer is always not sure, dun know. No leadership and not professional.
The nursery’s form teacher is a malay and very caring. That is waht i can say.
The kindergarten teachers keep changing. Very messy. They have no homeworks. When i happen to chat with some mommies of K1, they also very upset about the schools.
For blk 54, i got a friend who sent her children there many years back. No homework, always play and play. A lot of indian, only few chinese.
In short, there isn;t any good school near circuit road. -

Thaanks. Yes, I went to Blk 54, the lady who shown me ard is very nice. Start from next year nursery will be 3 hours (with snack). I also realised that chinese students ratio there abt 5/15. My girl now at Magdelene's Kindergarten (inside Canosa primary) also everyday singing but they have 2 teachers with 1 asst. in a class. And the teachers there speak good english. I'm considering a nearer ones. -
Hi Mac,
I have visted Magdelene last year. I never asked further because it does not up to my expectation too.
The PCF i have selected also does not meet my expectation. Therefore i rather pay for a cheaper one.
For PCF blk 31, nursery is 2 hours. Nothing much they can do. No homework at all. They have been learning ABC and strokes and very little chinese words.
Chilren learn to draw too. I knew it as my child told me that the teacher taught him how to draw.
Besically the form teacher for nursery, Devi, a Malay is very caring, soft spoken, friendly and helpful if you have any questions or anything needs her to help out.
For academic parts, this school is quite messy at the moment. Teacher turnover is high this year. I heard that this kindergarten prepared them reasonably well in the past.
After changing of principals and teachers this year. All seems changed.
Would you mind what have you found out about PCF Blk 54?
My friend’s both kids attended this kindergarten 4 years ago. It wasn’t good. Everyday nothing to learn. Nothing to bring to school. So, her both children dont do well in primary 3 and 4 now.
I am not sure what is the changes like. Is it better?
Actually, to me i find that better ask till k2 bcos afterall u don’t want to change school if realise only the school is no good. -
Charmaine, your concern is similar to mine. I was trying very hard to read through all the pages here, then i realised not all PCFs offer childcare. Most offer N1-K2. That’s when i started to search for PCFs that offer childcare. Some even offer infantcare. But reading the many useful posts by parents here, i’m thinking what if my son goes to a particular PCF that offers childcare but this PCF does not prepare kids well enough for P1. Can i withdraw him and register for another PCF? I was reading the registration details and process for N1 and it seems very competitive because priority seems to be given to existing students and the siblings of existing students. Am i right? So can i assume that PCFs who only offer N1-K2 with no childcare, those that register for N1, are all new ones, so no priority to given to anyone? I would also like to find out for the registration of N1, any priority given to those who stay nearer?

As far as I know, only two types of priority for PCF registration: sibling studying there or parent is grassroot leader. This is phase one. All the rest will be under phase two.
You can confirm with the school on this. -
Hi butter,
I am not so sure on that.
I just knew for popular kindergarten, you have to register many years ahead. Usually is one year in advance.
For my case, the school isn’t very good, so i just register and got the place.
If you are looking for childcare, you may want to consider My first skool that under NTUC, $270 per month 7am-7.30pm.
Its curiculum is much better comparing to the one that my child is in. For PCF that my child is in, very fundamental and nothing much. If you don’t do anything with your child, that is it.
For My first skool, at nursery, they learn short vowel but the phonics seems incomplete, expose children to loads of arts n craft. Teaches in smaller group, using ridby to teach , they are reading like: i can jump, i can run. Short sentences.
Whereas for PCF at blk 31, only a,b,c , basic strokes, and the rest unknown.
I personally find that my first skool is much better comparing to normal pcf. However, there are premium pcf that cost $200 ++ per months. Good comments. However, i presume only selected places and i am not sure which are good.
I just knew my area seems don;t have one.
