My MIL have been observing the PCF N1 and N2 classes near my house and this is what she has observed:-


(a) CHildren are playing on their own (most of the time)
(b) Teachers \"hide\" at one corner to do their own stuff
(c) No spelling
(b) No homework
(e) Children don't need to carry any bags

So is it really beneficial to study at PCF? Really need some advices :shock:

is it so bad??? my god... they are expanding so fast, yet they don have the standard??? i realised that the PCF teachers are mostly china.. not very sure what they really help & teacher our kids.. >_<|||

I though my gal CC is bad.. But then, they still have spelling, homework, speech & drama.. teachers are usually around with the kids... And they will study like few hours.. And play few hours... hai~~

I supposed not all PCFs centres are like that. My girl used to attend 1 which is 1 block away from us. The teachers do make sure that they are learning the essentials and some will even go beyond the PCF standard.

There are some days when the teachers will be busy with the projects for graduation exhibition or even racial harmony days where they will be required to do up stalls and all for fund raising. But definitely its not that often that the kids are left alone to play.

For Nursery level, I don't recall my gal bringing homework back to do coz they usually complete the work in school. And spelling starts only in K2.

From N2 to K2, school bags are essential coz they need to bring books, pencil case and water bottle to school daily.

But coz we are shifting, that's why my boy won't be able to attend his sister's previous PCF..

My girl is currently at N2 of PCF, it is true that she is picking up new songs and there is this communication book given to us (parents) on a weekly basis. I seldom see that she brings worksheet home, not to mention musical tool, stickers, readers etc. Moreover, my daughter's nursery class is only 2 hours whereas some other PCF is 3 hours. Yet, I am paying the same rate :S :shock:


Just that my MIL has been checking what exactly my daughter will be in for when she progress to K1 and she realised that there isn't much homework provided, as compared to our times when we are at PCF (then known as PAP) so that makes us worry whether she will be duly prepared for P1 in years to come.

In fact we are pondering whether to transfer her to the nearest Fairfield Methodist Church Kindergarten next year when she progress to K1 or should I even consider sending her to P1 preparation class starting from K1.

I am new here.I was thinking of sending my child to nursery in PCF kindergraten Serangoon Blk 226. Anyone has any idea how it is ? Please help me with your frank reviews.
