Acs n sji, what major difference?

We leaning towards sji, but will face transportation problem commuting from west to bishan temp holding site.

        mummy so kiasu:

My son in p4,we don't have any idea.he knows a bit,but i feel that haven't matured yet to aim a secondary school.May be next year.

We are referring to Sec 1 in 2013. Your son is only in P4, still have another 2 more years. He will discuss or hear from his friends, which school to go to by the time he goes to P5. Parents could also discuss with their kids & go to Sec schools open house. All the best!

Most boys are not so concerned about sec schools at P4-5. There isn't much urgency. It's around end P5 or mid P6 that they start to think about it. I hope he can go to this and that sec school, but he is still very playful. 😢

Bring the boys to open house....maybe can help.

DS dun care about where he goes, he leaves it to me to choose a good school for him. Went NUSH open house today.....well, he seems a little moved and sold, now he tells me he prefers NUSH to RV (before that, nonchalant attitude). But sorry lah, think not much chance .... but at least, some reaction from him..... 😓

SJI has longer tradition. Btw the present ACS(I) Principal is an old boy from SJI too.

Actually son is ok to either SJI and ACS(I). To be 'confirmed' of a place at SJI, he needs to get 250. If can get 250, maybe can appeal for ACS(I). Friend's son had 255, no prob getting in ACS Independent.

Cathalic High, I understand is a SAP school, does it means that if my son did not do well for his higher Chinese (merit) than he can’t get in?

Anyone know how many classess will it take for its IP in 2013? It joins with SCGS & St Nic for its IP, as all three school has their own Primary School, thus it mean the chnace for outsider will be less?

SJI Holding Site for 2014/2015 is rumoured to be at ITE Bishan. Should be quite convenient since its next to the MRT. Got circle line that goes to the west, where do you stay ?

I think SJI would have the same posting system as VS/Cedar meaning P6 would opt to choose SJI IP stream or SJI O Level. Hence the cut off may not really be 250.

ACS(I) does not have this system, they have their own internal cut off for IP which I think is 255.

Janet - assuming your son is not from ACS family, 250 should be ok for your DS to enter ACSI Express. However to enter ACSI IP, 255 was 2011 PSLE COP and i heard no appeal allowed. Even if appeal is allowed, the ACS family boys will presumably have priority.

250 should get him into SJI Express too. For SJI IP there's only 80 seats and most likely 40 taken up by DSA, so entering via S1 posting will face keen competition.
