220 is still very far away from ... 250

I love the idea of a safety net. But I will want my daughter to do better than 220 hopefully.

I must be the odd mummy, I'm aiming for COP 230s sec school. Yes I know there are a number of yrs before 2017. πŸ˜‰

No. Not odd at all
I sincerely believe you understand your own child's abilities and know what is best for your dc.

Frankly, I was looking at 23x-25x schools initially. If I push DS really hard, DS might hit 26x....not sure also. But then, what will be the consequences if he hothouse into those top schools? Demoralised & unable to catch up in such competitive environment. Will he be happy? I think it will be a painful process for everyone.
When DS cleared round 1 of all his DSA....naturally I got all excited again, our expectation shot up & I forgot all about his innate abilities...haha  Our top choice was HCI & that was the only one who rejected him. So once again, I was knocked back into reality - DS is not that calibre....at least not yet? Must be positive lah, only 12yo....late bloomer maybe kekeke πŸ˜‰

For us, we are gonna accept one of the COs. If he does well in PSLE (good enough to enter HCI), we will of course be disappointed but since I now know where he stands.....it may be a blessing in disguise

To me, aim at the child's level....as they improve, we can always adjust accordingly based on their capabilities and what's best for them. For my DD, at P1, I would gauge her as 21x-23x. At P3, I saw hope at 22x-24x. Now at P5, I see some possibility at 24x - 25x......you still have a few more years :rahrah:

still have some more years to accumulate money for tuition, ah?
lol. let's say with 2 subject tuition, i see ds calibre as 23X-24X, but with 4 subject tuition, i think he may be able to hit 25X. so how? :scratchhead:
            :moneyflies:

Like that I would need to open a tuition investment account :rotflmao:

At the rate that tuition fees are increasing, I doubt I will be able to afford. I will have to rely on her school teachers πŸ˜‰

What happened after hitting the 25X for PSLE? Continue tuition in sec sch else cannot keep up? What happen after sec sch - continue tuition with JC / uni? What happen thereafter when they need to start work?

I think like what BeContented has mentioned, we parents need to know our kids' capabilities and be realistic. It's good to \"push\" a little, but \"pushing beyond boundaries\" will only create issues for kids and parents in the future. What we want to raise are independent & resourceful kids, not spoon-fed kids who have to rely on tuition and support all the way!

KoalaMummy, the instructions given in the sec sch posting booklet said to put in all 6 choices, so put that in \"for show\" and to prevent your entry from becoming \"invalid\"! :rotflmao:
