      Hi Laurenwkids,

Thanks for your feedback! Will certainly try again. Is there any difference in the three TAS centres? Methodology can work for a few components for English. Care to share how TAS methodology can apply to compo?

The 3 centres as are run by all the teachers trained by the boss. The kids are supposed to memorise some phrases and flash back. They only do situational writing ,don't have picture composition. It's risky as the kids may go out of point during their exams.

I think the teacher will still once in a while, let them try out on the picture composition as far as I know.

After months still none as they focus on situational writing .

They focus on both situation and picture writing. For picture writing, they do not give out pictures often. However, the teacher will usually draw out roughly or explain what the picture is before they are to write the composition. (that is what my kid says anyway)

For composition, they focus on teaching the children how to develop the storyline by building tension (so problem must be built up), they also teach them how to vary their sentences. For upper primary (my friend’s kid), he managed to improve from getting 25-27 to getting 30 over marks. For lower primary, I do see improvement but it is slower as lower primary topics seem all over the place. Some schools give the more simple topics, some give more problem based kind.

Their teachers do give their best. For the Pri 6 now, according to my friend, they give extra free lessons where they pay for materials only. They also put in extra time after class to help the weaker ones.

My older kid is P5 (rather weak, but saw some improvement from 22 to 25 marks, mid year she improved to over 30 but recently for test dropped again sigh she is not stable yet). Younger one is P2 (yet to see improvement but I am ok with it as the topics given in school are the kind that is describing sports day, day with grandmother, not the kind of topics that are more P3 kind that TAS is doing)

                    Hi,

My kid is in lower pri in TAS but I have a neighbour whose boy is taking PSLE this year. He has been having tuition at another centre but not much improvement. Still getting low 70s. Anyone ever tried putting their children at TAS for the last few months before PSLE? is it effective to do so?

                      Hi,

Now TAS has start giving revision for the PSLE classes. Not quite sure will it be very stress for the boy to join. Yet, my advice is to call and speak to the staff there. But bear in mind, there might be no one picking the call and the delay and returning the call.
