Both are good, but Ai Tong is much more popular and harder to get in.Anyone knows of River Valley Pr Sch standard as compared to other neighbourhood pri sch? Is it one of the better ones and above average?
Thanks for your reply. -
Any information regarding River Valley Primary School?
-
Hi,
I am thinking of enrolling my son into West Grove Primary School (staying within 1km) but I heard that the enrollment is very competitive!
On the other hand, my hubby used to be an ex-student of RVPS so I guess our chances are higher to enrol into this school.
Which would be a safer and better choice between River Valley and West Grove?
Please give me your thoughts and advise! -
Yeah you would probably need to ballot if u register in Westgrove even if you stay within 1km. But that means you are staying in Jurong West which is quite far for RVPS.
A lot of ppl are in your shoes every year actually. What you can do is register in RVPS under phase 2A first, then go West grove pri on last day of phase 2C day to gauge your chances, see how many applicants are within 1km vs how many vacancies left. If you think the chances are good, you can withdraw your RVPS application and submit in Westgrove. Else if you think chances are no good, then just remain in RVPS. -
Hi Luanee, thanks for the advise. Do we have to personally withdraw the applications? Guess is really seeing whether I am lucky.

Yes. What these ppl do is usually husband and wife will each station at one school, ie one at RVPS and one at Westgrove. Then communicate via hp and discuss your chances, then withdraw/submit just before application close! Can be quite stressful though

Hi chrislyf18,
Have you check the past balloting history for Westgrove Pri? Need to plan very well for this move as you may ended up no place in a school.
Yes it would be good to ask both parents station at each school.Wait until the last 30 minutes have the live update of registration.
Wish you good luck. -
West grove - balloting is required for <1km.
My son's childcare supervisor share with me that most parents who did PV managed to get into WG. Those who didn't have no chance at all (at the balloting) and have to settle for what is left/available.
My hubby is thinking of doing PV at West Grove to increase our chances as he feels that RVPS is bit far and seem like a school for the rich (the school is surrounded in condos / private estates). Not sure whether is the right environment for our boy.
I don't know... :?
Any parents whose child is in RVPS? Please share with me your view of the school. Thanks! -
If you do not plan to move house, then WG definitely a better choice as u would save time on travelling etc. Why not sign up as a PV first? Ur kid borned in 2004?
-
Yes, born in 2004. Have to sign up for PV by June this year then.
Meanwhile, I am looking out at other schools in West area as backup also.
