Hi...if u wish to know about the P1 Math syllabus, just head straight for the textbook section. Have a look at the My Pals Are Here series (the textbook is called Pupils Book). They also have the Workbook - the kids will do these worksheets in school. And Math Extra Practice - this is optional assessment book which is good for revision before tests. Some primary schools use another series (I forgot the name) but u will see it in the textbook section too.

Don’t waste your time with the preschooler IQ Math books. U can let your kid do them for fun, but these do not help with understanding the primary school math syllabus at all. More important preparation for P1 Maths is their reading skills. U will notice that they need to read the lengthy English instructions for each question.

Hi anyone can recommend any Maths enrichment where they focus on concepts and also mental calculations?

My boy is fascinated with the calculator (and treats me like one too) and loves numbers so much that he has gone into exploring square root and percentage. He understood number bonds really well (though impatient and careless at times in his calculation) and I am surprised that he can subtract and add numbers from 1-100. He is 5 years old and I consider him more advanced than his sister when she was at his age.

Does anyone have any feedback on Math Monkey and Eye Level Play Math? I’m thinking of sending my son to either one. Thank you.

There are books in library to each about mental calculation of numbers, calculators are usually allowed to use in exams, but mental calculation is indeed important in spotting the mistakes when glance through working, i used to score full marks for pri maths papers partly is because of mental calculation, i think if u are able to learn that on your own, then maybe u can read the book and teach ur boy at ur own pace !!!
