Missed the chance to transfer son to a school with affiliated sec when he was in P2.

Husband is an ex school boy of Ai Tong hence entry to the school is very high likelihood as its under phrase 2A. However coming from a family whereby all my brothers & cousins graduated from CHS except me as I am a girl, I would really hope my 3 boys to have the opportunity to go through what they have experienced also plus secondary school affiliation & reglious teaching.


I am residing within 1km of CHS and my elder boy was born in 2006. Any advice/suggestions on what I should do? Your advice and thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

If you cannot get into CHS in Phase 1 and 2A, then all bets are off. Even if you get in as a PV for Phase 2B, the competition is VERY intense. In fact, CHS is arguable the MOST competitive school for Primary School registration in 2010.

That's why in the dilemma and pretty upset about the whole thing as I come from a family with all CHS graduates. Even my 2 own brothers are from there except me as I am the only girl in the family. But best part is all my 3 children are all boys! Stay so near to the school but can't enter and to watch all my nephews who are staying so far away to enter. Dunno is fate play a trick on me or what....Sighz...


So even with PV, join grassroots and request church to write recommendation letter stating active church member concurrently also no hope? So shouldn't take the chance at all? Really can't do anything about it?

With CHS, there seems to be very little you can do. What you mentioned above might help in the appeal process, but that's dependent on a child leaving CHS to free up a vacancy. Trouble is, schools like CHS will typically have no, or little dropouts. You can consider trying for a transfer a few years later.

As you mentioned, typically CHS has little or no dropouts, hence subsequently to be able to get a place and transfer him to CHS will be a problem as well...


What if I give out my priority for Ai Tong at phase 2A and try my luck with CHS for phrase 2B? If elder son managed to get in, perfect! If not, problem is he will have to try out other schools in phase 2C. Any good schools to recommend near Bishan/amk/novena area which has reasonable chance still in phase 2C? Then when my 2nd boy register for P1, know it's not workable and register him for Ai Tong & then try transferring my elder boy in if got vacancy. Do you think this will work & too much of a risk? Advice and opinions please... Thanks

if whole family were from CHS why not qualified under phase 2A for alumni ? you are a girl but your husband ?

All my 2 brothers & my cousins are from CHS except me as I am the only girl in my family. I was from a convent school (catholic school) though. As for my husband, he is from Ai Tong hence under priority at phase 2a but I personally prefer CHS due to reglious teaching & sec school affiliation and I have 3 boys & it's within 1 Km from my house. :idea:

there is no need to write in to CHS to put your child on waiting list, just go to the sch and fill the form. But be prepared, the wait list is super long.
