      icorpion:
I son will be in P1 next year...any advices?

      1. Go attend the parents orientation, best to bring your spouse or another adult along. One to listen to the briefing, another to go buy uniforms, PE attires and books. Less crowded when the briefing is on, once over long queues. Briefing slides will be available for download on school website.

      2. Take note of the food being sold at the canteen and their prices. This would allow you to determine how much allowance to give and whether to pack snack.

      3. Brush up on phonics and 汉语拼音, it would help in reading and spelling.

DS’s iCreative Learner teacher advised against reading just Geronimo Stilton because of the made-up words used and lack of "catchy" phrase.

Goodness. Time really flies. I still remember your ds's picture when he was in Primary 1.

Indeed! Makes us kind of \"old\", right?

Anyone knows where to find cheap easier versions of classic literature titles?
She liked \"great expectations\" but that was the usborne version and it wasnt really complete version..

nib really hard to find the titles...

Orientation on 16 Nov at 9am…

At the original TNS building, not the Bedok site?
                Anyone?

DH might be away that day… Need both parents to be present?

hihi! my DS will be gg to TN P1 next year 😄

just to chk. read somewhere that TN allows kids to wear PE attires to school every day during hotter months. is that true?

in that case, need to get more than 1 set of PE attire right?

(i know it's still early and sorry for being so kiasu here 😓 guess i'm getting excited about DS' new journey next year! :boogie: )

Yes, during the hotter months, school allow children to wear PE attire everyday.

No need for both parents to be around. Orientation is for the child, to show them to their classroom, their teachers, the school compound, etc. After a talk for all parents, parents will be led to their child's classroom to fill up some forms (mainly GIRO form, student's particulars, emergency contacts, etc). You can buy the school uniforms and textbooks on that day or another day.
