      TNS 2011 PSLE Results

      Overall Passes
      - Standard level = 100%
      - Foundation level = 92.9%

      Pupils scoring T-Score of 250 & above
      - 2010 = 31.5%
      - 2011 = 32.4% (up 0.9%)

      English Passes
      - TNS = 100% (National = 97.7%)
      - A* & A = 80.4% (National = 44.3%)
      - A* = 103 pupils

      Chinese Passes
      - TNS = 98.5% (National = 97.3%)
      - A* & A = 89.6% (National = 80.6%)
      - A* = 119 pupils

      Maths Passes
      - TNS = 95.7% (National = 84.2%)
      - A* & A = 66.2% (National = 43.5%)
      - A* = 134 pupils

      Science Passes
      - TNS = 99.5% (National = 90.5%)
      - A* & A = 70.3% (National = 43.5%)
      - A* = 92 pupils

      HCL Passes
      - TNS = 98.3% (National = 98.5%)
      - Distinction = 20.5% (National = 17.6%) or 48 pupils
Hmm.. there are more pupils scoring A* in chinese than in science. Does it mean it is more difficult to get a A* in science than in chinese? or is it because tao nan is very strong in chinese and hence more A*.

          Hello Parents,

How many sets of uniform are you all buying for the children?

          Cheers,
          Leanne

Depends on how frequent is your laundry.

Buy more PE attire, as school allowed students to come in PE attire during the hot seasons.

            Starrenee:

Thanks for your reply! It's not very fair since I believe the child should be rewarded based on their efforts, not household income. Any kiasu parents working in MOE that can protest on our behalf? πŸ˜‚

This is an old issue. Parents wrote to ST Forum before some years ago. So far no removal of household income ceiling. For those with more than $4k household income, juz take it as an encouragement letter and keep it for DSA purpose. What some parents do is to give the equivalent amount to the kids as reward πŸ˜‰ The Edusave scholarship for p5 and P6 will be w/o household income ceiling, amounts being $400 for top 5% and $350 for top 10%.

i agree that they should not have used household income to deny encouragement to kids that had done well.

It would be great encourage for the kids if they could go on stage and receive a certificate. Then use household income to determine whether the certificate comes with money or not.

            anyway :offtopic: πŸ˜‰

              hi Starrenee

You will receive a letter from MOE if your child is in the top 25% of the cohort. However, you will not receive any money if your household income exceed $4000. Thus I guess many families will not qualify for the funds, just recognition that your child does quite well.
When will we receive the letter from moe? Does it mean that if we didnt receive by now, means our kids not in te top 25%?

Can anyone help to clarify that the top 25% & top10% (for p5 &6) is comparing with nationwide or just within the kid's own school? I got different answers from everyone;)

Top 10 percent is just among the school, exclude gep.

I.e In tao nan, it will be for the mainstream and Bicep students.
