Having said all these and assuming all other existing rules remain the same, this new rule (if it is true at all...) will only be good for those wanting their child to study in a school beyond their GRC (that means further from home..) and less popular school (where there are no balloting or ballot for 1-2km or >2km).

All those very good schools typically have balloting in P2B. The choices might be very limited. Unless that school can offer something that the schools in the existing GRC don't know, else the travelling time for the child might be very tiring. Imagine have to travel far away for 6 years

However I heard that current tanjong pager grassroot members wrote to their grc MP and asked for exception to be able to apply to SCGS under phase 2B for next year P1 registration. The MP had approved. If this is the case then other GRC members should request the same eg. both pre election boundary-Aljunied and amk grc should be able to apply Rosyth for next year regi.

They should really have set boundaries and NOT change all the time. So freaking messy and say you are GRL in one constituency and thinking that you can apply to School A.

But don't think MP has power over this right? Maybe the MP has agreed to write a letter to MOE or PA for exception and it will still depend if MOE or PA agreed to it. If they agree, then they will open a floodgate

Yes if exception approval is given to extend till 2012 and allow pre election boundary (Tanjong Pagar) grassroots members to apply a Kallang Moulmein GRC school then the same should apply in other GRCs like the case of Aljunied and Ang Mo Kio. Hope they don’t open floodgate for the rest. Anyway MOE is under Mr Heng - I am not sure about his response. but for PA- I am more confident that they will say no.

Unlikely that one MP can unilaterally approve such national thing that affects many people and the system/policy in place. We need to hear such concession officially from the MOE and PA.
