Only residents residing in the designated RC or NC zone can be RC or NC Executive Member (EM).
Committee members of Citizen’s Consultative Committee (CCC), Community Club Management Committee (CCMC) and the Community Development Council (CDC) need not be living in the GRC. -

Ah so there are still possibilities to join these other CCs for Jongsn. But is the time required (1 year) to qualify for P2B the same?Only residents residing in the designated RC or NC zone can be RC or NC Executive Member (EM).

First of all, you can volunteer in other GRC but you won't enjoy the P2B privilege. Even if you are in the GRC of your new house, you will still be too late to register next year, 2012, for P1 in 2013 via the P2B privilege for grassroots leaders. That is, it's too late to go via this path at this point in time as you need to be an endorsed GRL before 30 Jun 2011 to qualify for the P2B privilege in 2012 to register under P2B.Hi,
would like the experienced parents to give feedback and advise. Let say I am staying in A GRC is it mean I can't be volunteers of others B 0r C GRC? As the pri sch which i want to enrol my child is not within my GRC but is near to our future purchased property(within 1km) but still building in progress n be ready in 2014. But our DS is going pri 1 in 2013. Do you think we still in time to be volunteers for the GRC (as DS registering P1 in next year)? -

The 1 yr still applies. But may not be possible as the members in these committees are usually co-opted from existing GRLs. E.g. Chairman of RC/NC or other GROs are automatically members of the CCC for the GRC/SMC.

So to sum up. It is too late for me to do anything to apply volunteering work in any GRC or PA. I only can pray hard my DS got a seat in that sch we wish to register him.

THanks to all for sharing ur expertise and experiences. As I am curious 1 of my hubby cousin last month went to approach 1 of the GRC that the sch they intend to register their child for p1 next year to do volunteer and heard that they have gone for some interviews sounds like they went to appeal or beg them to let them join the volunteering. But not sure did they tell them the truth of what is their purpose. And bluebelt already mentioned it is already too late to enter via this path, correct? Thinking if they can, Y can’t I! Oh yes, they also don’t stay within that GRC.

PA is very strict about the 1-yr service rule. Maybe you find out more on which committee your hubby's cousin applied to. If RC/NC, he/she can only be AM and AM does not enjoy the P2B privilege. Cheers! -

Thanks tim, so this is not the route for new comers either.

Just curious hor. Does it mean if the person is member of CCC/CCMC/CDC, the person is able to apply for schools outside of the GRC that the person is living in?

So for very popular schools, I am not sure what is the benefits since he/she may still can't get a place for their kids.
