Hi
Do you suggest that when I apply to be observer at the cc that I disclose to the CC and NC people that my intention is to get my child in primary school?
The lady at the PA hotline suggest I do that cos she thinks the NC might help me by speeding up the promotion to EM.
But I’m worried I may get black marked for this agenda.
What do you guys think? -
Suggest you keep quiet about it. Most of those who hold immense power at RCs/NCs are old people who only want self-sacrificing volunteers with no hidden agendas. Got it straight from the horse's mouth so I know.
Why would someone with young kids want to spend weeknights and weekends doing stuff at the void decks when their kids need them more? Isn't it obvious that pple with young kids who join grassroots all have an agenda? Those old pple with grown-up kids just dun understand. :slapshead:
And if you want to go this route, you need to like menial tasks such as tying balloons to void deck pillars, being called to usher guests at RC dinners etc during your supposed family time.
PV at the school is a better option, really... -
this grassroots route is my plan B
as the PV i apply all to the better schools. worried won’t get selected.
if i can get selected, and dunno by 2014, will the school i get selected to do pv at, will it need balloting at <1km…
thinking of other options to guarantee a method to avoid balloting -

Last year, there is balloting for 1-2km. Maybe this year or in future, it may ballot with in 1km.
Think twice. -
thanks mummy of 3
yup i realised its 1-2km
looking to maybe buy a condo nearer first and do at west coast NC instead…
cos realised if i change ic address halfway throught the GRL term, i have to change the RC/NC volunteering at. -

Can't agree more. Those people in RCs/NCs who has been there for a long time always quite suspicious of those younger one who joined them. You will need a few years of active participation to gain their trust.Suggest you keep quiet about it. it is true that when an observer joins the rc meeting for the first time, we will ask him/her to introduce. All of us knew the agenda behind even though some chose to keep quiet and not revealing. After May every year, we will start counting who will disappear, because somewhere in May, GRLs will get Phase 2B letter.
PV is better because your agenda is realistic. -

Think it is fair and morally right to keep serving at least 1 -2 terms more after your child got into P2B. It is quite demoralise to see those who use this system to gain the benefit and varnish once objective met. What kind of society is this.it is true that when an observer joins the rc meeting for the first time, we will ask him/her to introduce. Agree that PV is better as everyone there goes in with the same objective and the expectation once \"job done\" can varnish. -
It is indeed very demoralized to existing GRLs because the person who has agenda used to be very active and suddenly disappear. They will attend once in 3-4 mths, giving excuse such as overseas assignment lah, not in Singapore lah, work late lah, all sort excuses.
