Only schools within the CCC GRC and the GRC where the member resides.

After reading still confused like many, anyway here’s my question

I am now staying with my mum under Tanjong Pagar GRC, the school I want my son (born 2008) to go to is also in this GRC. Unfortunately the distance to the choice school is more than 2km and past history show that only those staying outside 2km has no chance even in balloting.

Before I consider this route, already have intention to rent a place 1 year before my son’s registration, but the house of the choice might be under another GRC.

My questions
1) If I managed to find the rented apartment also under Tanjong Pagar GRC and within 1km of choice school, do i need to inform or transfer membership within the same GRC to a division or zone of this GRC?

2) If I can’t get the rented apartment under Tanjong Pagar GRC but within 1km of choice school, and I already became a GRL etc, I will need to get MP to write appeal letter for transfer to this GRC to be eligible?

3) RC and GRL are different is it? How to apply to be GRL?

Appreciate if I can get some advice.

1. No need but need to update your rental address in your NRIC and PA.
2. I assume you will be using your mother address to register as GRL. Right ? and if you cant't get rented apartment within TP GRC, then why the need to write appeal letter. Anyway, executive memeber is non-transferable.
3.Resident Committee/GrassRoot Leader.
Go to PA or CC to apply.

So I just go to the nearest CC at my mum’s place and ask to join for GRL? or I have to go to the CC nearer to the school of choice ?

CC nearest to your mum place or complete the form through PA website (volunteer) will do.

I was told by the CC staff they are full to take in anymore and if I am asking about schools, no more schools involved... then ask me go RC then I got \"scolded\" by member inside RC. Haiz.

Also the volunteer form is for committee like WEC or sport committee which i think it's not going to be helpful for the primary 1 registration.

I am calling PA hotline in awhile.

Hmm.... now GRLs don't have the privilege to select schools in P2B? Notice MOE website also removed the choice of schools in the respective GRCs/SMCs.

It is quite impossible for a newbie to join CCMC directly

RC route will be a more viable chance for you

I’ve checked with the PA staff in charge of my RC re: my membership status and she said she had already submitted the application to convert me into EM quite a while ago.
She said that I am already a member as the with effect date is as of the date of application submission and I can attend RC member courses such as team building as a member.
However, I have yet to receive the PA letter nor attend any PA induction course.
So I will like to check, am I already a member as what the PA staff said, or do I still need to pray hard for the letter to arrive before jun/ jul this year?

You should receive a Certificate of Appointment. It will state the official appointment date. Think that should be the date we are more concern with as it is from the record of PA system. Separately, PA will also send you a letter inviting you to attend their 1/2 day induction programme. Keep a lookout in your mailbox
