once you change your registered address, your address on PA database also will be changed. So I assume you plan to move in 2022 so address will be changed in 2022. Normally, serving-wised, need to be moved to new GRC as well once your address has changed. In 2023 when you need to register your child for P1, your address will already be under bukit timah GRC. If you want to use the GRC route to get 2B phase priority, you need to maintain your EM status in 2023 as well. <- This is where I was coming from. When you move house, it is not neccessary that your EM status will move along with you to the new GRC. It is subjected to the new GRC if they have available quota for EM. Serving as non-resident committee may not entitle you for 2B priority (You may check with your PA staff again) and I find there is no point serving in Tampines when you actually need your child to be in school in the area near your new address in Bukit Timah.[/quote]I see. 1.) if i joined RC and volunteer my time, 2 years, and be a executive member, would i be qualified for phase 2b for Nan Chiau primary school?

My concern for the above is Nan Chiau has removed parent volunteer scheme and since sengkang is a opposition ward, do we still qualify for phase 2b?

Yes you will still qualify 2B as GRL, give ample time for Observer to EM, maybe 3 years in advance. Make sure your residence is <1km as 2B need to ballot.

As per Davischew, you will need more than 2 years, plan for at least 3 years and you will have to be within 1km of the school. As GRL is a scheme administered by People's Association, it doesn't matter whether it's a WP or PAP ward. It's also separate from the PV scheme. While NCPS has removed the school's administered PV scheme, the volunteer scheme under the SHHK clan is still around.

Go to nearest CC to enquire on volunteering and joining as GRL. But you must at least be <1km to qualify for ballot either 2B or 2C.

can check from this link => https://www.parliament.gov.sg/mps/find-mps-in-my-constituency type in the school postal code and you will see which GRC the school is in

it depends on how fast you will get converted to member. When you first apply, you will be appointed as observer. From observer to member will take sometime which is unknown depending on factors such as your zone quota, citizenship status (SC/PR) etc., Once you get promoted to member, you need to serve at least 2 years before P1 registration year (not actual P1 year) to be qualified for 2B phase. Your effective date of being appointed as member is crucial as it is used to count the qualified period. Start as early as possible.
3) What would I need to know or do once I get selected to join the GRC? What kinds of activities?
Once you get in as observer, the PA staff/members will be able to guide you or ask you what to do. Each GRC may be slightly different depending on the activities of each GRC. My zone activities are such as attend monthly meeting, help out in MP house visit, help out in national day activities, etc.,

Thanks.[/quote]1. I think most people are cognizant that new GRL wannabes, especially those with young families, are usually there for the 2B privilege. Hence, no need to hide or smoke if asked.

2. The answer to your second questions depends on where you live and how well connected you are. Some constituencies have many applicants, some have none. The former can be tough (or face a long wait) while the latter can be a shoo-in after a short period of observation.
