GRL is apolitical (supposedly) as it’s managed by People’s Association. Last I check, even the Worker’s Party manage / run ward has community centers, resident network, etc.

That said, if you have missed the SHHK membership dateline as per the other thread, it’s unlikely that you will meet the GRL cut-off as well. You will need to submit your application at least 3 years before 1 July of the year of P1 exercise to have a realistic chance, given the admin processes including vetting, appointment as observer, appointment as GRL, etc.

Just trying to find some information on phase 2B. If my child is a non SC non PR, I know i am not eligible to do parent volunteering for phase 2B, does the same apply for being a GRL?

Just want to see if there is any chance to try for local schools within my area in earlier phases or is he only considered for phase 3?

P1 registration is conducted over several phases. Phases 1 to 2C Supplementary apply to children who are Singapore Citizens (SC) and Permanent Residents (PR).

If your child is an international student, you will need to register them through a 2-step process under Phase 3.

Hello! Appreciate any advice here. My current address is in Jurong GRC and the school I’m interested in is 1km from my address. However the school is in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. Which GRC should I volunteer in then to be eligible for the school recommendation letter?

The new rule is you can choose any schools within 2km from your home address regardless of grc you serve. Anyway, you can only get EM status if you serve the grc that your house address belongs to. So just go for jurong grc and apply for the school you want. Good luck!

I am currently an executive member of one RN. And I stay in a different area. Not even very close.


I got a few questions.
1, is an executive member of a RN for 3 years above considered as an active community leader.
2, can I use this executive membership in one GRC allow me to apply for a school within 2 kilo metres of another GRC as a 2B applicant?

Hi EnGirl, wondering if you know. i am already a GRL , i am residing within 1km from the school BUT the school is in another GRC am i able to use the the GRL priority to qualify for Phrase 2B?
