i think so though... i mean, i feel that the only possible reason would be this, and i also feel the only way is to have majority votes over opposition to counter the increasing NC here...
But still don't think so that getting votes is the driving force for bringing in new citizens. There is no guarantee that NCs will vote incumbant. And looking at the number of eligible voters in the last election, how many do you think are NCs that their votes will make up for those that vote opposition.verykiasumummy:
new citizens of cos... i didnt know non citizens are in the picture... opps...
but i had the impression that PR can vote... ok now, since NC can vote, they could be invited into sg just to neutralise the votings... so does my conclusion makes some cow sense??
i didnt really pay attention to the numbers, but i know those winnings by opposition are just by minor percentages... the NC could help since the difference is still not too big...
ya just another guess too... but it seems logical to me... -
Sighs, as a PR of Spore for 16 years and having been living here for 19…
I only have this to say, there aren’t any capable oppositions that can form a sound government, (there were candidates to presidency that was campaigning for the rights to the gov reserve, candidates that doing just countering/opposing gov’s policies, political parties that can’t quite make the cut to be the gov.)
Are we going to bet our future? Are we ready? Shouldn’t we weight carefully?
Life is much much tougher else where in the world…
And, no, PR have no voting right… This gov is still working by statutory, not just about letting anyone that favors them to vote… If so, they’ll definitely get mine! -

And their decisions are?
And the solution is....?
Wait, I know!
Ask our million dollar ministers ........ but refuse to accept their decisions.
\"We're gradually increasing our land area, and if we rebuild our older towns, then we can accommodate more people,\" !!! -

人棄我取, one man’s treasure is another man’s trash, well… what is worst for some could be treasure for others
PRs like me, had lived in 3 countries, travelled and worked across 3 continents, with reasonably good knowledge about the current affairs and have my perspective about the world sorted out, we came here with our eyes opened and our expectation reasonably adjusted.
We were not incentivized to be here, had never utilize any governmental grants nor expect to be given any goodies… we are here, because we recognized and appreciate this country and the government behind it, simply put.
We have certain grouses and will rant about life too, but we know jolly well that else where in the world are fairing worse, we wanted a similar first world living environment from where I came from, so, here it’s…
We are living in a metropolitan but people expect to have a slow pace life, that’s just not possible… take a walk at Champs-Élysées, you’ll see a million of cigarettes butts littering along both side of the street’s walkway, the locals are not complaining, well, that’s part and parcel of being the most famous street and earning serious tourists money… it’s the mindset.
Adjust your expectation, do more in-depth research of how others in the world are living their lives, what have we done to be here at where we are, have we really done our part, do we really have enough size of the talent pool, will this country regress, are we really the world class talents that we no longer need a capable government? etc etc…
Most importantly, see more, read more, understand more; from the perspective of your country… not just "I hate that FT colleague of mine, I hate the jam packed train, and I am going to use my vote to see that a new government takes over."
Well, life is more than just irritating colleague, jam packed train ride and your children’s education…
Every choice comes with a price.
Are we ready for that price? -

There is no doubt that since independence, the govt have been a capable one. One that brought SG to where it is today.人棄我取, one man's treasure is another man's trash, well... what is worst for some could be treasure for others
I'm talking about the 1st Gen leaders.
What you see.. are the fruits of the 1G leaders.
Since 2000.. how much have the citizen's condition improved? under the charge of the 3 or 4G leaders..?
Again.. there is no dispute that the govt had been a very capable one. But whether the current govt is as capable as the 1G leaders..... I have my doubts. -
Then we should be more united…, work towards the challenges, bring forth the good, forgo the minor disagreement, welcome the talents, stop condemning the poor guys in the gov… and let’s build the nation the constructive way.
Gosh! How I love this country! -
and… I haven’t even got the voting right yet…
(How strange? A foreigner, a PR, appreciate your country this much… cos i have seen the world, roughly.) -

And.. how come you didn't apply for citizenship? :evil:and... I haven't even got the voting right yet....

I don't say if the current govt is better or worse than other countries..
But, I felt that the current 4 G leaders doesn't seems as good as the 1G leaders..
I'm just wondering.. the dissatisfaction with the current leaders by some.. is it bcoz they have had it better?
The ruling party ever got >80% of votes at GE..
They had created a very solid foundation.... the clean city, law & order, etc.. What you liked about this country.. is the work of the 1G leaders.. if you realize..
If you attribute all the good stuff to the current 3/4G leaders.. Then, some \"credit\" might be misplaced.. maybe?
I believe in balance of power now.. with the ruling party unchanged..
Absolute power corrupts.. absolutely..
