P2 Math - General Discussion

Hi plum-cake,

I have 2 assessment books on Models…one is by Simon Eio, the other is Fan-Math. Very scary to see books on Models starting at P1. :!:

For the Idioms books, it’s quite interesting to read it like storybook bcos of the cartoons on the right…fonts used are also quite friendly.

Has your DD's sch started teaching models yet? DD is also in P2. She just started yesterday and told me it's confusing. I have exposed her to models but looks like it takes a while before they can fully grasp the concept. Looks like I must go thru with her again this weekend..

Not yet. Its actually ME :oops: who started learning the stuff last week. cos. when she hits that stage I had to help her prepareing myself lor.

The Idioms/Phrasal Verbs book is more appropriate for P3 onwards.

:?: How do I explain this to my P1 DD?


Q: 6 is 1 more than ____

In K2, they were taught \"more than\" is addition. DD kept using it as key word and came out with \"6+1\".

I am having diffculty explaining to her, even is I drew boxes...

Any suggestions?

I not sure it will work but can try.....

1. tell her she is right. \" more than\" is addition.
2. tel her \"is\" is the answer.
3. so \" 6 is\" meanns 6 is the answer.
4. now we have to find a number that makes 6 when you add 1.

am I confuse..ing :oops:

Dunno what maths text book your DD's sch uses? My DD's sch uses My Pals are Here! and 'models' topic is P2 Term 1 work. So that means, you have to learn faster and start teaching your DD liao.

Ya...I was so surprised when she came back on Friday asking me about models. I also thought it was quite fast. That's why my poor gal said she's very confused. Just went through FAN-maths with her this morning. She's a bit better now but still :?

You still have 23 pages before Chp 3-models starts. Quick, quick, go and finish learnig your models...hehe. I'm sure you can do it.. :ugogirl:

and saw something called BRANCH MODELLING .......the movement I saw that :faint: then I saw this \" visible thinking in mathematics\".....and im in :love: for that bk. A new addition to me but for my dd :nunchuk:
