[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

Can’t imagine the heartbreak. Phase 2B actually includes quite a number of groups - religious, PVs and grassroots. PVs served the school while grassroot served the community…not to forget a handful who ask their MP to write a letter to help them get into school of choice.

Thought that MP letter holds no sway in P1 registration? :?
Yes, I pity the PVs most as they put in so much effort and still can't get a place. At least the grassroots volunteers have a choice of schools to apply to within the GRC, and can still switch to other schools if the numbers don't look good.
For those PVs who get balloted out, do try again in P2C. And if you're still unlucky, put yourself on the waiting list. If there are students who withdraw, you would have a good chance of getting in since the school would recognise your efforts. I know of someone whose child is already in the school (under P2A2) but is likely to withdraw if a place can be found in another school under P2C. So there's hope yet for all! Best of luck!

Hi Citygirl,
I agree with you.
Someone of authority did tell me that the handful who asked MP for help is part of the 2B phase.
A friend of mine who registered under 2A1 has plans to withdraw and register her child in another school if 2C there has vacancies. There will be lots of movement for 2C…so don’t lose hope yet. All the best to you and also other mummies registering their kids 2moro. -
I don’t think MP’s letter works. And it would be very irresponsible for any MP to write the letter and attempt to bend the rules.
-
MPs will gladly write letters to please his/her voters, but it is entirely up to the school who they want to give priority to.
It’s just what my RSM said during an in-camp. He told us some NSmen will get MPs to write letters to help them defer their reservist duties, but ultimately the unit will weigh the request on its own merits and not because there’s a letter from so-and-so. -

tomorrow we will see the real numbers...if parents who see no hope start switching choices. Typically MGS has had to ballot at P2B >2km over last two years but this year's numbers are looking scary for MGS.

pardon my ignorance, when will we get to know how many apps under phase 2B are within 1km, 1-2km etc.? after tomorrow or result day next wed?
-
MGS has always been scary, but this year Pei Hwa is no different. I seriously thought that parents will have an easier time this year, given the lowest birth rate, but how come Pei Hwa had 174 applicants just for Phase 1. As for 2B, first day turn out has oversubscription of 14.
notabox,
I am curious and checking vacancies for a friend.
