[Bishan] Primary Schools

If you walk around the campus, you will see the classrooms wall are all decorated with information such as 7 wonders of the world, the dynasties of China. Or you can see display of singapore currency, old toys from toy museum, models of old vehicle... these are all done by the PV. That is the kind of PV that the school is looking for. So you will have to think of a topic that you can showcase and propose to the principal. If he thinks the topic is of interest of the kids, he will accept the proposal.
So once your project had been submitted, you're considered to have fulfilled your PV duty? No need to clock 40 hours of traffic warden/chaperon/etc duties? -
BigDevil:
Typically the time spent to do research on the information and getting the display up will exceed more than 40 hours. So that should consider you already fulfill the requirement for PV. The principal makes it very clear that the school does not need traffic warden or librarian or other such service for PV. Actually I find CHS type of PV more fun and challenging especially if you find a topic you are more interested in.rejoice137:

Just a thought (no offends to anyone)…As CHS has been going to ballot under phase 2B for the past few years, for those <1km, perhaps CHS could consider doing away with PV, like De La Salle, no point, making these PVs put in hours of hardwork but disappointed when they fail to secure at the end.
-
I totally agred with that! why ask for PV when the seats are not even enough? are they hoping for less catholic or less community leaders? I dun understand lor.
anyway, I think we are staying put at SJIJ, dun want to go thru balloting.

its kind of ä½ æƒ…æˆ‘æ„¿, school also hope to gain from the work of PVs, sad to say PV work dont just end there, if your child get thru balloting, pvs could be asked to return to do 'maintenance' wrk to their project on ad-hoc basis. i personally kn some pvs doing that.
Plus Point- the psle cut off point for their sec is 235 this year (if im not wrong), just incase your child only get 1pt below the cut-off and if you are a pv who comply to school 'recall', mayb sch will be more willing to help.

Hi, may I know, for balloting, will it be done openly or the computer will do the balloting?

It has to be done openly, and manually, in case people cry foul. -
Hi Smurf! My boy is also staying put at SJIJ. Kind of concern about standard of school. Heard that their highest PSLE score was only 266.

Hey Ginger,
you receive the letter already?? I just received it...maybe our boys would be classmates! hahah.
it's ok lah, at least SJI (not junior) is very good...many ministers are from there...hahah...just have to train your boy to study hard hard lor...:)
I think it all depends on the child also lah sometimes, if my boy qualifies to go CHS, maybe he can't take the stress leh?? (just have to think it this way) I rather he enjoys going to school than to drag going to school!
