[Bishan] Primary Schools
-
[Moderator's note: Topics merged.]
Hi all.
Am a newbie. Got introduced here by another mommy.
I have 2 kids - a girl (4) and a boy(2). And just realised that I should already start checking out primary schools for my girl!! (both at once if poss, ie coed)
I like Ai Tong, cos heard strong in chinese and is coed. My mom is staying about 1.4 km away, but that is about the only adv we have. What do you think my daughter's chances are?
If not this, what other good coed schools are in this area? Can anyone help me out? (she is staying at upp thomson, around pierce reservoir) -
Hi dawn, Chief has merged your similar question yesterday under the ‘Bishan’ thread. Do look over there for reply, thks!
Chief, is there any way that u can inform ppl when their thread has been merged elsewhere? Looks like this is a common problem among newbies… -
O! thanks! I actually searched all over for it, figuring she must have merged it but couldnt find hahhaa…
thanks again! -

Sheesh! Thats really scary! Sigh… other option is to go for all girls’ school - sngs. was from there prev.
Are there any other good coed schools in the area? Am going by my mom’s address which is in upper thomson road (near pierce reservoir) -
Oh if u are from sngs then ur dd is assured of a place liao, only problem is u have a younger son right?
Ever considered doing PV plus moving within 1km? Not too sure Aitong got PV or not… and u maybe too late for joining huay kuan liao (check out the ‘clans’ thread). -
yeh i did check out the thread. (glum)
and i doubt we can move in near future, so if cannot get into ai tong, gotta check out other coed schools. Anybody know any? -

Does anyone has children in this school coz I'd like to find out if the standard is very high and the students are often stressed out. I'm considering this for my ds and wonder if he is suitable to be in such an environment. Understand schools with long history are usually more demanding, so just want to be prepared. Any info is appreciated. Tx!
We have 2 boys in Cath High, one in P6, one in P4. Don't really find the place excessively stressful. -

Some years ago, we were in this dilemma - whether Maris Stella or Cath High. St Mics (now called SJI Junior) is out of our radar distance wise.I'm more keen in catholic high, cos that is the nearest catholic school near my place. I stay in Yishun.hee. Another place to consider is St Mic, but that's kinda of far.
I want to put my boy in Catholic school is because we are catholic, but I think it's quite difficult, cos I dun have intention of doing PV and other than being a catholic, there is really nothing much I can do to 'fight' for a place in Catholic high though.
As Catholics, we qualify for Phase 2B. If you stay outside 2km (yishun for u is o/s 2km), then no chance already in Cath High --> balloting usu for those within 1km for Phase 2B Cath High. Higher chance in Maris Stella bc they have more places available each year compared to Cath High.
Thankfully then for our elder boy, schools had not reduced their class sizes yet, so we balloted for a place in Cath hi in phase 2B successfully. -

With the tough situation of registering for schools these days, i think it's best to put your girl back into your alma mater SNGS. Then look for another for your boy. No choice. Easier that way.Sheesh! Thats really scary! Sigh.. other option is to go for all girls' school - sngs. was from there prev.

Our children r at Sngs & cath hi respectively.
