I watched a video by Education minister Mr Ong on why every school is a good school. Schools tries their best to help every child. Some offers more academic rigor than the rest. Parents have to decide whether they prefer their child to learn in school or go home and watch TV until their parents comes home because the school does not give any homework. For those that prefer their child to enjoy their childhood, then it doesn't matter which school to register their child for P1 since every school is a good school.

I had the same feel on anderson. There's no affiliation to the secondary school. So probably a competitive environment but is that what you want...gotta ask yourself.

Hi did anyone join the parent volunteer for APS? What are the chances of getting in the school upon joining?

            Hi

Can parents of Anderson Primary school enlighten me on the academic wise in Anderson Pri School?
Will the teachers do extra efforts to help those weaker students?
In P4, how will the students be assigned to their class? Better students in one class?
            Hows the teachers? Passionate?

I am only sure for you to be in the best class in primary five in aps, your p4 math overall must be above 90 to have a better chance. I think for p3 they will look at your overall for all 3 subjects in primary 2. You can trust me, I'm from Anderson primary too πŸ˜„

well I'm not a parent but a student there πŸ˜„ for your first question, yes they will put in extra effort to help those weaker students because I've experienced it before. For your second question this is how it goes: they will take your p4 math overall to split you in classes and yes, all of the best students in one class. to have a better chance in getting to the best class, you have to score at least a 90 overall for your math. Also, the \"smartness\" gap between the best class and the 2nd best is REALLY big (because I was in the 2nd best class) but there will still be smart students there. Also the teacher in the best class will bring the class to do fun things (if I'm not wrong ) when the exams are over. My Best Friend is in that class so thats how I know.

Managed to visit and tour the school. Overall, clean and vibrant environment with many facilities. School will take-in a total of 7 P1 classes with 30 students each. Rounding up to approximately 1,300 students in total. However, the student care centre is pretty small, can accommodate to only 60 kids. So may not have much placement opportunities for those who wish to place their kids there. According to the staff, their last year's PSLE result is ranked above national average.

Canteen food seems a little costly. Saw a stall charging $1.20 - $1.50 on the price list for some sort of noodle of rice. Can't recall clearly. Was thinking if $2 is even enough for my kid to consume a proper meal there.

Those who wish to pick-up and drop-off kids via personal vehicle may find it a little challenging. The only place to do so is along the road which has only 2 lanes and is offended congested.

When asked about their strengths, they just mentioned that they are a neighbourhood school and not to compare with other top schools.

Will be going to Mayflower Primary for their Open House to find out more about what they offer.

Would you like to share the difference between Anderson and Mayflower after you went for Mayflower open house?

Might have a chance for ballot. Check the stats on the last day, and also find a backup if odds not favorable.
