Thanks. But it's out of the way. I hope they'll operate a booth in the temporary site when sch opens, just like previously.

Yes the new condo site, Paranoma, is just next to the sch temp site. It not just poses a potential health hazard, but also traffic conjestion n dangers to students… For TWO years…

After reading so much negative replies from parents with kids in Anderson primary.

My confide level for this school is at rock btm, seriously wondering whether do anyone from Anderson pri admin or principal looking at this forum?
my gal is starting pri 1 next yr and reading so much negative remarks are really :S

During the orientation last mth, the VP (admin) only touches on logistic at the new site (keep reminding parent who drive not to turn right etc) and the principal din even touch on any current achievement or what to expect or how parent can "help" in their work (my friend told me her’s covered a lot on their school work and wat parent can do to help etc). Even when talking on PSLE results she just do a very brief summary giving me the impression there is not much to expect for the 2013 batch (my personal impression)

Then they brought us to the classroom to fill in forms (i was sure the principal said by the forum teacher) but when i asked who is the class forum teacher, none of them knew.
1 of the teacher said "maybe" is this teacher (who current teaching p3), that teacher when heard her name, she was like "no, don’t any how said" and the other teacher replied "i only said "maybe"" (impression = no good)

Regarding the construction on the new condo beside the school, I did asked the AM.
He said the school have highlighted this and MOE and school will monitor the noise and dust level. He said even the residents also will highlight the noise level not just them so I wondered how the developer going to do piling (day time = school time ) (night time = sleep time for residents).
Either way I don’t find his explanation satisfactory.

last week, I read mosquito problem, I was so scared till I ordered those anti mosquito bands (for standby - am I the only parent? I don’t think so)

now i’m reading the site is not ready for students with 2 weeks left

            Questions:
            1. Regarding the site should the principal be in charge or the operation manager?
            2. Is the principal accountable for the whole school including the operation side?

till now my impression of the new principal is almost reaching the "incompetent" level be it managing the staffs (teachers, admins), Academic etc.
she maybe "new" but took over a year and "not much" results.
Even students i talked to don’t even have any good feedback.
In private industry normally this will result in "showing the door" situation - correct?

MOE motto is "moulding our next generation", seriously hoping is not using our kids as the moulding of their next teaching generation.

Yes the P said we will be meeting the form teacher in the classroom. But the teacher I met said she isn’t the form teacher, just helping with administration for the day.

What to do, we just do our best to support our child. The site problems are really unfortunate and I think MOE assigned the site without looking at the wider development of the area. We need to monitor and make our concerns known to both the school and MOE. Parents are stakeholders and I think they will take us seriously if we make enough noise.

                Hi all,

                I am new here.

I have a girl that is going to P2 next year and was accepted to Anderson Primary for their 2014 P2.

Initially I made a transfer request to a few schools that I know is quite good and is better than her current school.

I tell myself whichever school accepted her, I will put her in unless a few school accepted her than I will choose from there.

That was all decided near Sep'13.

Now I am accepted by Anderson and when I come to this post, I have second thoughts.

Base on a lot of official data, academic and P1 registering Anderson is a popular school in AMK just one step below CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School.

But I am puzzle as if Anderson is such a popular school why there is so many negative feedback

I don't mean that the feedback is untrue, but I just so worry.

This is a very big decision that I am going to made.

If I made this decision wrongly, I could \"destroy\" my child.

Sigh, getting her transfer is stress enough. Get a placing already also so stress... :frustrated:

I read through from Oct'13 till today, all the posting is negative.

I am hoping to see some positive feedback. Is there any?

                Hi jayjayloh,

You seems to have links to the school. I hope that the feedback for the past 3 months will reach the schools appointment holder especially the P

                  Hi all,

My elder son just graduated from Anderson Pri this year and I have a younger son who will be doing P4 next year. It saddens me to see the negative comments posted in this tread as I personally feel that Anderson Pri has progressed these years, compared to where it was six years ago.

The previous Principal was very good at engaging the students and well liked by the students. He had implemented several initiatives (eg. New playground, IT Kiosks, annual family fun fair, overseas exchanged programs and etc) during his tenure. A very holistic environment, not academic driven at all. Kids were very happy but not the parents. We were stressed over the academic performance (no streaming, minimum homework…) and worried that our kids would not do well in PSLE and get into a good secondary school.

The new Principal came on board two years ago and she works very differently from her predecessor. She is not a "marketing" person. I would say, more proper and serious. The kids also took a while to adapt to her style - no jokes. Instead, kids are constantly being reminded to be disciplined and well behaved. The test and exam papers are set at a higher level. As parents, we observed that the quality of education has improved. It is still holistic but balancing with some academic focus.

My son and almost all of his classmates have done well this PSLE and got into their choice of secondary school (HCI, RGS, CHS, SJI, Anderson Sec and etc) The form teacher organized BBQs for them since P5 and the teacher- students bonding is great. I am sure these fond memories will stay with them and they will continue to keep in contact with each other.

Give the school and the Principal a chance. Anderson Primary is a good school and I am sure it will progress well under the leadership of the current Principal.

Thanks slim_tay for the reassurance. I went down to the school today and am pleased to see that it does look better now. Still lots of dirt from construction but teachers and staff are moving in and the canteen is operating (though taps and water cooler are very dirty still). Peep into the general office and really tempted to look for Mrs Tan.

I guess slim_tay is right. Mrs Tan is probably very different from the previous P. And when there are changes people will react. I only hope she has the teachers on her side. And that the teachers are professional and caring.

Looking forward to the new school year! And belated seasons greetings to all 😉
