After 2 weeks at school, DS finally back to his usual bubbling self. Now he could tell us more about what happened school and who his friends are. Also homework has started. Though not much but he gets at least one a day. That was a relief for us. Looks like he will enjoy school as we hope to.

Btw, just a reminder to parents (whom might be too busy with work and running after the kid...: P )

The annual Food From the Heart Food Drive would take place this week - 19 to 21 January 2011.

It's a good time to teach our children about community sharing and to help needy families and children.

And definitely a good chance for family bonding - shopping together for a good cause..

My son also from 1C. BTW, he just got his diary book from school. Can check with u whether when is the next HYPY spelling?

BTW he jus had one today. I asked him, his answer is "DON’T KNOW".

Hi Pocky30, glad to find a parent with kid going to the same class as my boy. Yes, he got his diary just this past week. On Friday the form teacher wrote down the homework in his diary. We also saw on his MT workbook that he was supposed to have HYPY spelling on 17 Jan but it turned out that it was conducted on Friday instead. My boy just told me it will be on every Friday. He is a bit blur like all kids. Most thing I asked him, he also said don't know :-). But he is doing better now which is to our relief. Not sure when is his next spelling too. I am sure the teacher will put a note either in the diary or in the MT workbook. Did u send in the letter the form teacher asked about for your DS? we received reply from her. It is nice of her to reply and tells us what she thinks about my DS.

Thks for the reply. Jus found out the the next HYPY spelling will be on next friday 28/1. Thks for informing that is conduct on every friday, cos my son said he doesnt know at all. BTW what is MT workbook? Yes, already email the form teacher and also got the reply the next day.

Yes, the next HYPY Spelling is on this Friday, 28 Feb. Also the English Topical test for unit 1/2 is taking place on the same day.

So you child will be joining P1 in 2012. The question on which school to chose would depend very much on your own decision & judgement. Bottom line is the child would enjoy the 6 years of his/her primary education. I believe both schools would have open house nearer to the date of registrations. Bring you child to the school and let him/her see the environment and also this would give yourself a chance to talk to the school teachers and understd their curriculum better.

You are most welcome and it's always a pleasure to share parenting/schooling experienced with one another. Everyday is a learning day to us, parents, too.

Yes, TG has an Aesthetics curriculum and it helps to build up the characters in the child. Also not forgetting the school also uses Edward De Bono 7 Thinking Hats to cultivate the value of the child/children.

I believe MF would also has similar kind of teaching and value add.

Hi Eva, welcome to the forum. Hope you find the right advice you need here. I agree with Astee. The most important part of the school is that your kid will enjoy the 6 years in school. Another thing to consider include convenient of the location for you child to travel. Go visit the open house is a big help.

Hi Pocky30, the MT workbook is the 华文活动本. I forgot that the list is in the Chinese textbook and not in the workbook. Sorry to confuse you. This week my boy brought back the information on AsknLearn. We logged in and did not see any assignment by teachers yet. Did you try it?
