Hi Rejoice,Hi Astee,
My DS also keen on badminton but having it threentimes a week could be a bit too many for him. Will call up the school tmr to ask more about it. Now I think it may be good to delay CCA this year. My DS join Scouts for CCA this year. But I think as this is a new CCA plus the new schedule, this week I already gotten two communication gaps and problem with CCA. Will be calling up the school tmr morning to give my feedback as well as seek clarification.
Yes, there seem to be quite a few gaps in term of the CCA schedule. I was informed by my son's classmate's mom that badminton 3x a week are for the school team. If your kid is not in school team, just need to attend 2x a week. I think it's just Tues and Thursday.
Anyway, i am still trying to dissuade my DS to join badminton...

Hi Serine,Hi Astee
I dun recall having this form. Did you get yours?
Your child is in which class
Regards
Similar to what Rejoice had mentioned. The form was brought back on Monday and i signed and returned. It's for P2/3 Parents Workshop. My son is in P2.
I would love to attend but time conflicts with children dinner and tuition hour, so i have to give it a miss. Any parents going, please share your learning after the workshop.
Kam-siah!!

I insist on paying the fare I paid last year. I was :yikes: shocked about the single trip fare too, quite ridiculous, but luckilyHi Ivy,
Did the bus operator revise the bus fee after your feedback to the school? I called up the school and gave them my feedback. But since my DS is not taking the school bus now, the school will not cite my case to the vendor. Today my DS brought back information on the school bus fee for CCA. I was so shock to find out that the vendor is charging $4 per trip for CCA for Bishan area if the student is not taking school bus daily. I think it is not too far from taking a taxi! I feel sorry for parents who have to just pay for such high fee as they do not have a choice :-(.
, my DS don't need their service other than the normal school hours for now, if not, we will end up in this blood sucking bus vendors  . I was wondering, will this affect the decision of the parents to allow their kids to stay back for CCAs or even remedial classes. Hmmmm...the school have to look at this problem seriously too. :stompfeet:

Thanks for the news. That is good. But Thursday still not a good day
cause the school dismissed at 12:15pm and if CCA starts at 2:30pm, DS will have to either hang around at school for the duration or I have to make more transport arrangement :-(. Sigh.. looks like will have to give it a miss.
Yes, I think the school still trying to adjust to the new schedule and the new CCA. HOpe things will get settle down soon.
I also called up the school to talk to the teacher in charge of Scouts. My DS told me he has to pay for the uniform at $80 but I did not receive any letter about this. Only found out from the teacher that there was a short meeting last Friday to give out the letter and instruction. But my DS could not find the meeting place and the teacher could not find my DS: sigh. That was why the communication broke down. Just need to give the school some time to iron thing out, I guess.
I am gonna give the workshop a miss too as similar reason as yours. Anyone going for the workshop, hope that you can share with us :thankyou: -

I've submitted the choice for CCAs, but I've not get any confirmation from the school yet. Has the school chosen the members? BTW, my son is interested in Badminton too....

HI Ivy,
I was told by the school that CCAs have started on the 3rd week of school. In fact, I did not receive any confirmation from the school yet. I just asked my DS to check with the school but not sure who he checked with, may be general office. But he has started attending the Scouts CCA. If you look at the school website here (http://www.teckgheepri.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=1092963), there are daily annoucements on CCA activity. You might want to ask your DS to check with the teacher in charge or general office.
What do you think of the bus vendor charging for CCA transportation?

Ya, will call the school to check later. As for the bus Vendor charge for CCA transportation, I all along thought it was fixed at $1 per trip. -

[/quote]hi Ivy,
To my knowledge, Badminton CCA will start in Term2, reason being these few months are competition months, thus coach and teachers-in-charge are busy with the competition schedule. So do not worry too much about joining yet.

Hi Astee! Glad to be back after the long break.
Hi Holiday,holidayQ:
Hi, just to share this with the other parents who are planning to visit TGPS and Townsville.
It was very easy to make an appointment to visit TGPS. The person who answered the phone was helpful and polite.
Townsville on the other hand does not allow visitors to enter the premises except during open house. I was told that there was no point to visit as no one would be there to talk to us. No exception too if you are unable to make it on that day. Unfriendly and snooty.
Welcome back for the festive holiday
I believe as long as parents abide by the school visitors rules and regulations, the school (TGPS) will definitely welcome you to know more about the culture and its environment.
Sorry to hear about your call experienced with TVPS. Hope this will not affect your decision to still visit the school during its open house.
Regards,
Astee

Hi Astee,
I spoke to the class form teacher BC yesterday, she said my son is still not ready for CCA....sobs :nailbite: I've not told my son yet that she thinks he should start only next year. I feel bad that he will be dissappointed.
I feedback on the CCA changes too, that many of us are not sure what is happening after we do our selection. She mentioned that the students are told to enrol themselves if they are interested, that is to see the TIC and get the consent form. I've not heard my son talk about it at all. :scratchhead: I wonder if he really still dunno what is happening.
