Hi Cmum,
You are welcome to join us :-). Though school is different, the growing pain for primary schools is the same. Can still share notes and encourage each others.
Hi Ninjago,
I also stayed in Bishan but DS1 went to childcare at Alexandra as that is where I work:-p. so none of his K2 good friend is with him and he has to make new friend from day one. But three months after school, all he talked about is his P1 friends and forgot about his K2 friends by six months
so kids can be heartless sometime. Now come DS2. His K2 class is extremely small at Bishan so none of his friends are joining him at TGPS. But I am sure he will do just fine like his brother.
Most of TGPS kids are from neighbor estates. One thing I like about it is that during PTC, I can actually park my car in the campus free of charge
. You can see many kids walk to school everyday. If dismissal is at 1:15pm, I think the school will revert back to start at 7:20am. So kids have to get up a little earlier next year but they will have chance to take nap in the afternoon. I think the impact will be on kids who take school bus to school. They may need to board the bus a lot more earlier as lots of schools start around the same time.
I am not sure about teacher meeting. But for parent teacher meeting, it is often conducted in term 1 and 3. So I will be seeing the teacher again next month for DS1

It's great that we have network and support even before school officially starts next year. At least I can check with some other mums about certain administrative stuff if I'm not sure. I can imagine my DD giving me the blur look when I ask her if the teacher said this or that next year.beauty79:
How many of us here have enrolled our child into P1 next year? We can network and maybe say hi on orientation day
So far for P1 next yr (from last 3 pages) :
- rejoice with ds2
- u - beauty with dd
- mng with dd
- me - ninjago with ds, one n only one -
Hi beauty
On my side, my DS will remind me to read the com book. Reason is if I don know, he don get to participate in theme dressing or excursions.
If I am the one who asks him what was carried out in speech n drama class in his childcare an hour ago, he will put his finger near his forehead n think think n think. Then he may tell me - I forgot already!!! -

Hi Cmum,Hi rejoice,
TGPS thread has become more and more lively with the new mummies around. How I hope I can also join in.
I personally also prefer to read TGPS threads - moms here are warm and friendly. Before the P1 registration, I have read Mayflower, TV etc... network threads quite bored  -

All thanks to all of you for contribution. We may go offline for a while when the kids are busy with term tests or holiday, but we will always come back here. So keep the posts and questions coming.
The P1 to P5 kids have a very long weekend again this week due to PSLE Oral Exam. They are out of school from today till next Monday. But the teachers have given them homework to keep them busy for at least half a day to a day. It is a well deserved break for them and mummies after the term tests. After that, we will all look forward to a one week break in September
. I also look forward for a long night sleep :boogie: .
Hi Astee,
Where do you normally drop off your \"tingkat\" at noon? Gate A or B? I occasionally will drop it off for my DS if I am not working. Have been wondering which of the mummies I saw there is you :scratchhead: . Hahaha -

My dd is lucky then... I have heard - about 4 (incl DD) from her class joining TGPSHi Cmum,

Hi Mng,
:thankyou: . We are hanging there well with all your support.
I actually look forward to next year when DS2 will join DS1 at primary school. That way at least they have same holiday and same school hours (hopefully). That will make it easy for me to plan their schedule and holiday trip :-p. Hehe I am as excited as all of you though this is my 2nd time already. Haha -
Hi Mng_KL,
Yes, it's great to have a Lively forum and i am Thankful to all TGPS parents and other school parents sharing to the topics. Agreed fully with what Rejoice said - regardless which school your DS/DD is attending, at P1, we are all at the same starting mark. So it's good to have listening ears along the hurdles to share all the ups/downs. When the child reaches the finishing line - PSLE, that's where we can have our first sigh of relief. :imanangel:
Ninjabo,
By your description - your DS sounds like a pretty independent rider, looking forward to meeting this little gentleman soon.
Hi Beauty,
Don't worry about missing out anything in the first term, as that is still the transition period and our little kiddos will be still in their \"honeymoon\" season..
Blur is very common among them... :scratchhead:
Cmum,
Come along to join us in the discussion as and when you have the time/chance. We will be happy to hear how different school manage their curriculum, probably can draw out a Good Practise guideline along the way..haha.
Rejoice,
I am a permanent fixture at Gate A for lunch delivery. USually will sit around the guard seat or long bench for the food, as that's where the fan is...
Last but not the least - Wishing all kiddos/mommies and daddies - a very Happy Hari Raya Holidays!! Enjoy the well deserved rest and family bonding time.
Cheers,
astee
