hi rejoice
My boys are ‘out of no choice’ trained by the dad to cook rice as i always reach home @7pm. They are now 10 & 12 at AMK Pr School. I do agree with you that it is always good to have an extra hand to help but to think of the additional cost with the maid so expensive these days and some of the disadvantage and side effect, it really give me a second thought if i want another maid. My current maid is only willing to extend her contact for another 9 months provided i give her 2 weeks leave in March. It is like neither here nor there and i need to pay for her new insurance, airticket + renew passport and WP just to extend her for another 9 months. -
Hi concern_mum,
I completely understand what you mean. Kids grow up with maid can become too relying on them. I also don’t fancy the idea that my boys get too attached with the helper knowing the helper will leave very soon. After more than a year, my boys still ask me about their kakak from time to time. It is good that you have the option to stop having a maid. Hope things will go well with you. With support from your family, I am sure you can make it. -
Hi mummies, it’s so encouraging to hear that you are coping well with chores, cooking, coaching, etc. I will be sending my helper away this December and changed my job to part time for more time with the family. As a FTWM, I don’t and can’t cook. Hopefully I’m able to cope like Rejoice and Concernmum. Just attending to the routines of cooking, bathing, feeding, getting them ready for school, sending them, fetching them, etc. takes 4/5 of the time. Must pray hard I still have energy left to coach them.

Hi Beauty,
It is encouraging to hear that you are seeking more time with your kid. It is not an easy journey. But you won't be alone in the journey. So just persist and press on. One of the biggest rewards I get from all these hardwork is when my DSs told me they love my cooking and want me to cook for them all the time. Though they are small, they will appreciate your effort. However, don't let the daily chores stress you and tire you out. The main thing is to spend quality time with your kid. Washing dishes, doing laundary and cleanign the floor can all wait or skip sometime, haha. -
Thks Rejoice, I am not a neat freak but my youngest just turned 2. So still need to mop and put things away daily. As I’ve decided the arrangement next year, I know that somehow things will work out. I also look forward to the day my children will even ask for second helpings because they like my cooking…

Hi Beauty and concern_mum,
:rahrah: Let's share our joys and headache next year about house-keeping and bringing up kids and encourage each others :snuggles: -
Hi TGPS friends
I suggest we don’t do all the general household cleaning in a single day. Break them into smaller part which is more manageable. For instance, you sweep and mop the floor on every Tuesday and Friday, clean part of the window once a week, change the bedsheet on those days that you do not need to mop the floor. Keep the weekend free from housework but keep it for quality time with the kids. Clean the toilet everytime after you have taken your shower. Thorough cleaning can be done once a week. For those simple task such as putting the laundry into the washer, wash the disher after meal or clean the table can ask the kids to do. -

I have a automatic vacuum cleaner to vacuum my floor everyday. Mop only once a week since my boys are bigger now :-p. I think once the routine is set up and we become more efficient and will be able to do things faster. -
Hi all,
Did you all follow PM Lee ND Rally last eveing? Was so proud at one point when he mentioned about being oversea, on his personal vacation, and 2 ladies walked up to him and asked to be photographed with PM Lee. He commented: The 2 ladies said: \"we are teachers from Teck Ghee Primary School\" :rahrah: . Told me girl to look at the photo and she recognised both the teachers...
He showcased them as being Proud to be Singaporean, even when they were oversea.
Also TVPS was showcased as an excellent example of neighbourhood school. Very happy that both MOE minister and PM Lee are giving so much recognition and highlight to neighbourhood schools as every school is a Good School.
Cheers,
Astee -
Hi all,
Happy school holiday! To start off the school holiday, DSs and I went to the roller blading session organized by TGPS. It was a well organized event.we have ample chance to practice plus some safety tips. Both of my boys had great fun. To my pleasant surprise, package lunch nad fruit were provided at the end. Hope they will organize more of these kinds of events in the future :-).
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday. The school term for 2012 will be over in 2.5 months time. Looking forward to it :-).
To Beauty, Ninjago and concern_ mum, during the PTC session on Friday, one of the teachers also told me that the school may revert back to dismissal at 1:15pm or 1:45pm. The teacher also commented that my DS seems less lively in class during term three. And the long school hour may be part of it. So looks like Astee’s road side news seems very real now :-).
