Astee Foo:
Hi Astee/Ninjago/beauty79,Hi Beauty79,
Yes, i believe PTM is for all levels, so the parents get the chance to know their kid's 2013 FTs.
As for the SFE event, Ninjago is correct - it's for P3 to P6 parents.
@Ninjago, oh dear, hope the affected child was not too seriously hurt. Yes, kids of these schooling ages are hyper-active and some will challenge the limit. Sigh...we just have to constantly remind our DS/DD to be careful in their daily activities in school.beauty79:
My DD is in 1A but I have not seen any PTM form or SFE form. Should I check with the school?
The SFE event, is meant for all levels because I have received an email from Ms Sheryl Yee, SFE Coordinator dated 13 Jan. You may check your personal email address that you have provided to school or during the parenting talk.
Here's the message:

Time : 9 a.m. to 12 noon (registration will start at 8.45 a.m.)
Fee : S$2 per adult

Synopsis of the Talk :
Both nature and nurture, working together, affect all aspects of human behaviour. People often think that intelligence is determined by nature. By nature is meant what we have inherited from our parents and ancestors. Nature (or heredity) determines the range of human potential. On the other hand, nurture refers to all the things that have influenced us sincebirth. Nurture affects the ways that human potential is actualised, being helped or hindered by good or bad environmental inputs.
It is too simplistic for us to argue \"nature versus nurture\" as if they were mutually exclusive. To grasp the rich complexities of human behaviour, we should look at all behaviour through the lenses of both nature and nurture -- as they interact and work together. Nature and nurture are always intertwined. As biological organisms, our genes are always decoding informationto reconstitute our brain. But we are also affected by many of the environmental inputs that constitute \"nurture,\" in the sense that they help or hurt us in ways that the genes cannot predict or control.
In this talk, you will take away effective strategies that will help nourish your child’s potential.
About the Speaker :
Mr Cheong Heng Yuen has worked successfully with many parent support groups in workshops on life skills that will nurture student resilience, motivation, learning, self-discipline, and self-esteem. The former MOE Deputy (Pastoral Care & Career Guidance Branch) has many years of experience in designing and implementing social education programmes for students in primary, secondary and junior colleges. -
beauty79:
Hi P1 parents, any of yr child received the English Spelling list? I only saw the Chinese one pasted in the TB. Am thinking if my DD misplaced the EL one.
I said wrongly ... The jotter is their timetable . Their eng spelling is in a plastic orange file . -
Hi P1 parents,
Ya there is slight differences in practices by teachers.
DS has his time table n all school letter, spelling list to be acknowledged pasted in his jotter book. Chinese spelling same pasted in textbook. No files returned in his bag. -
Hi Mao,
My girl is also in 1D. Last week she used to wake up with tears too. But this week she is adjusting fine. She has made friends n I think that helps.
She also cried at school on 1st 2 days, thinking her form teacher is fieirce. But I think the FT has been giving away stickers n lollypop, that helps to reduce the distance btw FT n students too.
She fell at stairs 2days ago after recess, coz understand they have to rush to hall when bell rang. She is very skinny, said someone pushed her. Hurt both knees n elbows but luckily not serious.
I’ll be attending meet the parents session. Hope to c u there. -

i think i seen your girl during the first 2 days
i saw a girl cried during the first 2 days .. think her tummy not feeling good ... i agreed that her teacher looks fierce. My girl is scare of her too ..
she likes her chinese teacher more .
is your girl having short hair , fringe pinned up ..fair and skinny ?
her father will send her to school every morning , right ?
i hope she's ok .. some kids are quite pushy .. -
Hi Mao n Forever,
Actually I saw 1D form teacher in the first 2 days and thought she looked fierce too. But DS said she came over in one of their 1B lessons and she is okay in getting them down to class work - guess they have to be firm at times.
As for the pushy pupils, I always tell DS to walk along sides and don walk middle so that others don have a chance to push him. He walks along gate B and often bicycles on the footpath after school dismissal - must be safety conscious.
Their form teacher have a buddy system within their own class so they have someone to partner during recess. So is nice to know that your kids are settling down fine

U r very observant! Yes that’s her.
I had her hair cut short coz she has problem waking up early to tie her hair.
