Dear all moms,
I've new to this thread and I'm a typical KS mom  and wish to know more about you and TGPS:
1) out of so many schls in AMK, why do you choose TG?
2) do you stay ard the sch?
3) have you ever think to enrol ur child in Townsville or Mayflower before TG?
I'm a working mom, and will register my DD in 2013... dont know which sch I shld put her in... :?
Need your advise too

Hi Ivy,Hi Rejoice,
Ya, their \"Honey-moon\" period is over too soon. I always try to remind myself that they will have 6 years of primary school life from now, than I will not be so stressed up. This is the first time my DS having spelling in school, and it's 10 at a go,
It must be tough on him too.
Ivy
I personally think spelling weekly is a bit too many. But that is because when I was P1 I could even remember all the letters  Now the expectation for kids is a lot higher. Don't know it is good or not. But good for my DS that his k2 teacher started weekly spelling to prepare him for primary school so he is prepared. But I understand that not all kindergartens do that. But kids have high adaptivity so no need to worry too much for them. -

Welcome to the club. Hope u find the answer and advice you want.
I stay in Bishan. To be honest, TG was not my first choice due to distant. But I also did not choose Townsville though it is the nearest AMK school for us. One main reason is Townsville is still in partial session where the p1 and P2 are in PM session. It is very inconvinient for us and I feel that kids in PM session has less time after school. Also academic while TG is better than Townsville. Other AMK schools are just too far for us to consider. So far we are quite happy with the school and DS seems happy. But my reason may not be applicable to you Like Astee suggested, you should try to visit the open house for schools you are interested to see if you like what you see. -
Hi Mng_KL,
A warm welcome to the thread. We stayed near the school and also i am the main caregiver for my 2 children. So it was an easy choice for us.
Of course, prior to that, i did some academic research on the school and we went for their open houses events. Through all these, i was confident that my children will enjoy their schooling years.
Don't worry too much as i believe when the registration time comes, you will know and do what is best for your DD.

Hi mng_kl,
Before deciding on TGPS, I did consider Townville, but after I contacted both schools, I decided on TGPS. The reason, maybe it's due to I was lucky to speak to the Teacher in-charge for student welfare. Through her I get to know TGPS. Another reason is also because it is single session
.
I used to see very well-mannered TGPS students in Ang Mo Kio area, and always had good impression of the school.

Dear Ivy, Astee & Rejoice,
Thank you so much with your reply!
I also noticed, moms @ TG thread are more friendly and helpful... I posted @ MF, for weeks, no one reply... probably not active in KSP
Frankly, I also prefer to have single session + TG is walking distance to where we stay... went thru MF and TV's eca, seems more interesting

Hi mng_kl,
I, thank you, for the compliment.
Again, we are all here to learn and share each other experiences. So probably for the MF thread, most parents may be very new.
Oh..talking about ECA, one of my girl ex-kiddy friend chosed TV because of Gymnastic but finally when we met and i asked the mother about it. she said her girl didn't join the ECA due to some reason. If i remembered correctly, the ECA was not open to P1 students...so again, ask the respective schools to what ECAs are open for P1 children.
Hope this helps.mng_kl:

Yes, every school will have its positive/negative reviews. It's good to hear and compare notes. Good Luck! -
