      Hi Dicky,

Thanks for your comments. I am in dilema as i am staying SK and in fact, staying next to Nan Chiau Pri which is also quite a good pri school. However, going to Nanchiau although 1km, is not gurantee too. We had applied to do PV in nanyang too but it is not gurantee and need to shift hse to BT. So going to RSS, is a more confirmed and gurantee one and hubby is looking at the academic result too.

Selection of school is such a big headaches. A lot of the old boys and gals whom we know also comments that the standard had dropped but we do not know the facts too.

We understand that. My sis-in-law also commented that, but hear-say. She lived near Buangkok MRT and sent her kids to North Vista Pri walking distance as both HB and her work with no parental support. Every time hear her complain scared her kids cannot do well in PSLE in future as school dun give her kids homework to bring home....

Both schools you mentioned are schools for elite based on statistics and surveys, which include the likes of ACS where my nephews are based. Such schools you probably need to do PV and best live within 1 km from school, as balloting are likely even in Phase 2B.

For our case, we just tried to manage our expectation within our limits. We first heard about drop in standard. We backtrack and considered RSS within the rank of top neighbourhood school strong in cultural roots, with lesser likelihood of bad peer influence. We are comfortable with his, so we go ahead. Also we are not comfortable to stretch our health and hinder work, to do PV just to get a chance. DS not bright anyway.

Here we sincerely wish you the best, will be glad if your kids can get in Nan chiau or Nanyang. It means your grand children is virtually guaranteed a place in the schools too.... πŸ˜„

Hi Hi, I am also an old gals from RSS. Graduated in 1987. Just to check, whetehr anyone found that the standards of RSS has dropped compared to those old days of ours?

Heard from some of the friends that the principal is not as good as our days of Mr Wong,etc...

Any current parents of RSS could comments?
Hi, I am also an old gal from RSS, graduated in 1987.

DS1 is in RSS this year, and i do agree taht the standard of RSS is not as good as before. I am not too sure what the current principal is focusing of, but am not very happy that i had to send 2 emails to school (first one to him, and the other one to generic mailbox) then i get a call from HOD to answer to my concerns..

Some pple said that female principals are more onz, and male principals are more lax nowadays.. not sure if the current principal falls into this category..
