Your DS sure have lots of extra activities outside school! Are you a SAHM? 😃

Actually, I am keen to get my gal to learn wushu, not sure if RSS has it...
      >> Not sure too, as DS only P1

Oh yes, does RSS encourage communication between parents and teachers via emails?
      >> On paper Yes. In practice only problem kids RSS will communicate more often via person-to-person talk. DS has symptom of ADHD, so teachers tend to call me on occasions.

Mommilicious, my daughter is #1 and our #2 is on the way.

Kellyang, my gal’s only going P1 next year so I’m not sure. Have you tried calling the school to enquire further?

I’m seeing a lot more discussion on academic work e.g. homework, tests, etc in this thread. This makes me wonder if my gal’s primary school life will just revolve mostly around these. How sad. =(

Not to worry. Up to parents how after-school life should be. Reason we place DS in RSS is that we have faith in the school standard and can see the level of DS learning via his schoolwork. After school, we had more fun, enrichment, sports activities for balance..... The only thing is DS flunk nearly all the tests...... 😐

At this moment, DS is still under assessment. Just finished for dylexia assessment. Glad to say he is of lower side of avg intelligence and learning ability. So its back to CGC for ADHD assessment. So your kid probably go under dylexia type of issue...

As for the support with kids with special needs, we can say not bad. DS teachers had contact us 7 times to date about him, more complains though. DS form teacher also email us 4 times in response to our emails, though 1 or 2 days later. Our experiences show they do take note, and communicate more with parents of certain kids.

Btw there is a dylexia learning centre in FengShan Pri nearby RSS. We are deciding on whether to let DS take up learning sessions there before his P1 school afternoon. Perhaps you may want consider fengshan pri too, for better support within same compound/area?

              Hope this helps 😄

                    Hi Dicky,

Good that you have other non-academic activities for your DS. I just find it a pity if RSS’s curriculum doesn’t allow for a better balance unlike in some other primary schools. After all, our kids are spending a good 6 years there!

                      Hi Seagal
I think better dun pin too high hopes on the extra CCA....
cos the emphasis in RSS on CCAs seems to be more of those cultural aspect (such as chinese orchestra?).

btw, I was a former Fengshan Pri student. Dun remember them having such student support though, in my 6 years there...
