I would give him the benefit of doubt that he doesn't mean it but used \"bashed\" to project the extent of his anger and frustration at that moment.the scary part is this:
atutor2001:
The boy dashed off ignoring the teacher's reminder. He told his mum that luckily the teacher didn't give chase or he would have bashed him up at that moment......

It's not difficult to understand why it happened. Just look at the bolded parts. In a word: aquaplaning. QED.It was a Sunday morning and I was running late. The road was wet because of rain earlier. I was on a quiet 2 lane road in a HDB estate. There is a 90 degree bend but I know that road well. Usually I will tap the break to slow down at the bend. However, if in a rush, I will just release the accelerator and negotiate the bend at about 40 to 50 km/hr. On that faithful morning, I didn't tap the break. I was driving at my usual speed. At the bend, the car just head straight ahead when I turned my steering wheel. By instinct, I step on the brake and that made the car moved forward even faster. It mounted the kerb and stopped. (hopefully there won't be a PSLE question in future on why the car accelerates when I step on the brake
).
I was glad that nothing worse happened except $ fly away for the repair. Till now I don't know why it happened. Some friends told me that the road is \"dirty\" but I guess there must be oil on the wet road. If I wasn't rushing and had tap the break before the bend, maybe it might not have happened. It was difficult for me to understand that accident happened when we least expected - until it happened to myself and I am lucky that the price is not high.
On a 90 degree bend, aquaplaning is almost impossible to recover from before you run off the road. Please don't do that again. Thank you for your cooperation.

To the thread starter: I think that the boy should have told the teacher that heβs running late for his exams. The teacher would prolly "pushed the lecture" to a more convenient time.

Thank you for the information and reminder. I was ignorant of the potential danger of a wet road until then. My only concern now when negotiating any bend is being flashed, horned or hit by the car behind....On a 90 degree bend, aquaplaning is almost impossible to recover from before you run off the road. The boy should not be running along the corridor, no matter what valid reason he might have.
The teacher should just walk him to the venue. Firstly, can prevent him from running again. Secondly can lecture him along the way. Thirdly, in case he gets the venue wrong again, can lead him to the correct venue. -
The students should be made aware of the exact venue way before the exams especially if it's different from the prelims. On the actual day, there should be signs to indicate where the students should go. That's the least a school can do to help the candidates and such incidents will definitely be avoided.
No matter what, students shouldn't run along the corridors to prevent accidents. What if someone is coming along the bend? What if an accident really happens, won't the student be delayed further? Moreover, 15 mins is not good enough. It's better to ensure that students arrive at least half an hour earlier.
I remembered DS2 was still sleeping when one of his teachers called half an hour before his exams (I can't remember which and I wasn't even aware that he had a paper that da.y! :stupid: ). The school's policy was to ensure that all students were present half an hour or else calls would be made to ensure that they were on their way. Thankfully, DS2 made it for the exams cos of this policy.
Another incident that I know was a group of students took the school lift to get to the venue for one of their O levels papers. Firstly, students were not allowed to take the lift at all times and unfortunately for these students, the lift stalled and they were trapped. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Of course they got a lecture after being rescued and missed their exams. However, the school was kind enough to arrange for them to take the exams at a later time on compassionate grounds, something that the school was not obliged to do in the first place.

aquaplaning can only explain why it didn't slow down. It can not explain why it accelerate, unless it is false impression given to atutor that it accelerate when it did not.

My apology for not being clear in my writing. The incident did not happen during A level prelim, it was during the actual A level that started on Monday. The boy taught that the sitting arrangement was the same as the prelim, which was I about one month ago, and went to the wrong venue leading to all the misfortune.Nebbermind:
anyway, if I'm not wrong, the A level prelim results is quite inconsequential so the 'cher prolly saw safety as more important.
erm, was he barred from taking the papar due to lateness? If yes, I sure will be jumping mad with the teacher.
