dear parents can i check, how do they determine no. of slots open for phase 2a and 2b? is it total slots - phase 1 - 40 (reserved for 2b and 2c)?

For Phase 2A1:
Total places less Phase 1 Less 40 (reserved for Phase 2B and 2C)
Eg: 330 - 160 - 40 = 130 places

For Phase 2A2:
Balance after Phase 2A1
Eg: 130 - 80 = 50 places

For Phase 2B:
Balance after Phase 2A2 divide by 2, and add 20
Eg: ((50 - 30) / 2) + 20 = 30 places

For Phase 2C:
Balance after Phase 2B, add balance after Phase 2A2 divide by 2, and add 20
Eg: (30 - 25) + (20 / 2) + 20 = 35 places

1. i see that 330 was total vacancy for 2018 and 300 was for 2019 prob indicating a closure of a class. is there any insight why this is happening and is the trend indicating fewer slots in future?
2. can i confirm my understanding per this link https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/2019-p1-registration-phase-2a1-analysis/ ...does it means 109 applied in 2018 (versus 165-40 slots = 125 vacancy in phase 2a) and 84 in 2019 (versus 179 - 40 slots = 139 vacancy in phase 2a1)

1. Sorry, I’m not familiar with the internal workings of the school to know why 30 places were taken out. ATS has been 330 all along and 2019 is the first time (at least in a decade) that places went down to 300.

2019 : total 260, phase 1 121, available for 2a1 = 260-121-40=99, 84 applied for 2a1 ie 99-84=15 slots for 2a2, but it says 36 plcs taken at 2a2. how can # plc taken be more than avaialble (15)

40 places were already taken out / taken into consideration.

Thus, 2A1 is 260-121=139
2A2 is 139-84=55

can i also know how does balloting in 2a1 works if we get to there?
eg if they are 10 slots only
within 1km 5
within 1-2km 2
outside 2km 10

does it mean the first 5 + 2 (within 2km) will 100% get it and the remaining outside 2km 10 guys will fight out for the last 3 slots?
