Yes, CHS is a good school and I am impressed with the teachers' dedication, at least those that I have encountered

Hi MandyMummy,
then isn’t it better to go for non-IP? at least you can secure an "O" level cert? pardon me, I have to really start reading up on DSA and IP, seems like DSA also getting competitive in some schools… -
BarbieGundam:
It depends. IP is usually for the top 7-10% of the PSLE cohort (with cut-off >250) when all the IP schools are up and running in 2013. This group is usually university-bound with some exceptions. IP allows the students to skip O level thus using the time to pursue other academic and non-academic interests, and so is more enriching.Hi MandyMummy,

If your ds belongs to this group, he will have more exposure to a challenging and stimulating curriculum in IP when the students are freed of the time to drill / prepare for O levels.
If your ds goes for O level track, he will face more difficulties trying to get into the top JCs as all the top 5 JCs have limited places after accounting for their own IP students.
There are certainly pros and cons in choosing IP vs O level track. But, careful monitoring and early intervention help to prevent the sad cases of IP students not graduating with an A level cert after 6 years. -
Hi, Good Morning:
Since my son will transfer into P4. A bit concern about which class he will be in. Anyone can share which are type of classes (non-GEP) in p4 and their name? Type means best, middle or student need to catch up, not sure whether they have such differences? -

Don't worry lah.Hi, Good Morning:

Your boy will be in 1 of the 2 GEP class which has the smallest class size of all. -
Opps.
The school will only take in student with good result for the non GEP.
Also don’t worry lah, will be in the good class one. -
Anyway P4 no need to worry.
There will be another musical chair based on P4 result. Good will go good class and no good go weak class.
P5 classes, they will likely to stick to same class till P6.
For those in GEP, don’t think that they will be there, I have seen GEP students downgraded to non GEP classes.
In my DS year, they actually take care well even the weaker classes, about 2 to 3 classes and they do pretty well, some even able to stay back in CHS Sec.
Good class doesn’t mean will get good result, there are also some who didn’t make it to CHS Sec.
So you know what I mean?
I would say, CHS takes good care and prepare the students well for PSLE, if they don’t make it, it is the students own fault. -

Thank you all so much for the explanation. I fully believe the school will taken care all the students. Understand what you mean. Still depends on kids themselves. Thank you. -
