      Hi,

Can I find out what time must students arrive in school? Am planning to do a test-drive to check out traveling time/route.
Also, which is the correct drop-off point for Pri? The gate near Whitely? Or the one near bus-stop.
      Thanks....

Hee. Mine arrives way early cos I need to get to work. Most arrive between 6.45am and 7.10am. Drop-off point is Whitley gate for primary school. The one at St 22 is quite far from the primary section, but you can drive straight in. There's also the Pemimpin drop-off point and the side gate near Blk 292.

Traffic can be bad starting from 6.50am. If rain, worse, cos a lot of parents will want to drop their kids in the school at the foyer, so the waiting time is exta long. I ever got stuck at Bishan Road for at least ten minutes. St 24 is not much better. Better do a test-drive at the time you want to drop-off your kid.

      Good luck. 🙂

I drop off at Pemimpin Gate which is near the Primary School canteen. The gate is manned by 6.50am, and the gate itself is open by 6.20am or so. I prefer this gate. Not much jam at all, even on rainy days. I've learnt from experience to use this gate even on rainy days. Not worth trying to get to the Front Porch.

For the 1st few weeks when my no.3 started secondary school, my son wanted me to send him by Whitley gate - hated the jam. Ridiculous. So I proved to him that Pemimpin gate is way faster. 2 to 4 mins drive from Salvation Army junction to Pemimpin gate compared to 5-10mins to Whitley gate.

I drop my ds1 (sec) along the road at St 22 near the bus-stop and he walks in and my ds2 at the gate near Whitley. Faster than queueing to go into the school to drop both. Last year, I usually dropped them there at about 6.45am. Traffic still quite ok. This year, they go to school earlier because I need to arrive at my work place earlier too, so they reach school at an unearthly hour of 6.10am!

Once I sent them at 7am - so fun. St 22 left lane cannot move cos got cars waiting to turn into the school. Right lane cannot move cos cars waiting to turn right. So green light also just wait there. Then had fun getting into St 24 and fun u-turning from the school! But overall, not as bad as elsewhere. 🙂

That's why I only use Pemimpin and not St 22 or St 24. Those frustrate me. Pemimpin is fine even at 710am or 7.15am. But my boys usually in school by 7am anyway. There was a spell when they wanted to be in school by 6.30am.

IF late just use Pemimpin. ;D

Aiyoh, you send your boys so early.

Aiyah. No choice leh. If I send them later, I will be stuck in my own jam! Then I'll be late! And I cannot afford to be late!

Asked both my boys before. DS1 wants to tag along cos he's lazy to take the public bus. He would rather sleep in sch in the morning! DS2 doesn't want the school bus because the departure time from home is the same for both bus and car. And he would rather stay in the classroom than to be on a merry-go-round on the bus.

For convenience, school bus is still better -- reasonably early (not too unearthly!) to drop kids off before traffic gets bad, and whether rain or shine, drop them at car porch in school without getting a drop of rain on their heads!

Since arrive around 6.35am at school, ds packs his breakfast and eats at canteen when he reaches school ... can sleep another 15 minutes more at home!

But if stay too far from CHS, can be very expensive and pick up can be unearthly hour! :snooze:

                  Hello everybody,

I am new to the forum. Just signed up to join the forum to learn more from parents here!

My DS will register for P1 this year. Our plan is to send him to CHS for Year 2013 but we are staying in CCK. There have been loads of discouragement from family members to send him there as they say its too far.

Just wondering if there are any family in the same situation as me? Can share how early my DS will have to wake up to catch the school bus and also roughly how much the school bus fee will be?

                  Thank you very much

                    Hello mummies or daddies,

Anyone in similar situations who can advice on school bus arrangements?
                    This thread looks pretty quiet…

I do not live in CCK, hence I am not in the position to provide any advice. But you can call the school bus operator. They will be able to give you more accurate information like bus routes (do they go to CCK?), bus fare, and pick-up/drop-off time.

I will pm you the details.
