Yes, my dd is in the same plight as your dd's classmate. Chinese dance was one of the recommended CCAs and she chose it as her 4th or last choice. I would have preferred for her to be in the library or food and nutrition club.blue-march:
40 in each class would be quite a tight squeeze. My daughter didn't get her 1st CCA choice
she ended up in Chinese dances. Anyone else in Chinese dance?
Is yr dd's first choice happens to be in one of the recommended list? The school seems to look at the child's strength for that particular CCA rather than their interest. So it looks like they will 'skip' yr 1st choice, if it's not in the recommended list and go for the 'recommended' one if you place it as 2nd or even 3rd choice. This happened to my dd's classmate.
Do you think we can appeal?
Hi preggie,
You may try to appeal, no harm trying, at least you do what you can for yr girl. :please: -

Well, according to Dino mummy, her kid's top class for P3 this year is 41, so i guess generally they will have more students for the top classes.blue-march:
yes, the 2 top classes already taken up 88 places, i'm not sure how the rest will be allocated to the remaining 4 classes.
Probably may have lesser students for weaker classes so as to enable the teacher to focus and help them better, jmho.
As for the CCA, did yr kids being selected according to their first choice?[/quote
How does the teacher going to focus on the student?1 teacher is to 40 student is too tough. He or she may not give enough attention to the student need. Those Titution class outside always keep a small group of 15 so that they can focus.
I remember last year when I attended a session with Mdm Lee, the ex-P, she shared that she won't mind having up to maybe 45 students in the top class, and having just 20 students in the weaker class. It's both challanging for these 2 classes teachers as one will face a big group of highly competitive students whereas another will need to help to identify, motivate and tackle the weaker areas of these students. So to her, the number do not really matter. Not sure if Mrs Wong follows this theory but one of the thing I notice is they reduce one class for P3 next year, hence the 'squeeze' for that top 2 classes ba...
at first, i thot a class of 41 kids is quite challenging to manage. however, i tink my kid's form teacher (taking 3 subjs) is very capable. I likes her teaching style..tho' strict but I can see results in certain ways she adopt. I jokingly asked my kid to convey to her form teacher that wht she can continue to be their form teacher in P4.
Am hoping in P4, the teachers assigned are good. -
