kumon/abacus is good if you want your child to be fast in +/-/x.... however, fast doesnt mean the child will be good in math.....need s to know the math concept.....there is one mpm just above the town council in bangkit....i happened to talk to some parents (who send their kids to mps) said quite gd............i personally have not tried...........

kumon is good for pre-school.....my own opinion.......

fyi....i sent my dd to chinese and english kumon at bangkit..........so far so good........gd improvement........

I don't think my DS can eat another bowl of noodles or rice during recess time since he will be taking his lunch before going to school... So a bread should be sufficient... But I think you are right that it's a good opportunity to buy food since got buddy... Let me discuss with my DH...

Now, I'm actively training my DS on using money in Mandarin in case the canteen uncle or auntie don't know how to speak English...

Why you say your DD maths cannot make it?? BTW, I read somewhere that kumon doesn't follow MOE curriculum. You might want to check this out...
Durian0096, we can foresee she will have difficulties in Maths, cos she is very careless and she just want to finish her work FAST! ๐Ÿ˜ž
So by wanting to finish her work fast, she don't read the questions well, then chin cai calculate and ans.
Also till now still using fingers to count...
She is attending P1 preparation class, even the teacher say, yes she is very careless lo. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Then i want her to attend some extra classses or tution in the morning since next yr is PM session.
Don't think my mil can coach her anything other than Chinese. hee.

Anyone attending group tution around Pending Road?

            Durian0096,

            MPM i heard before.

Actually i dun need her to calculate fast. But she needs to understand the concept lo.
For eg, a question like this.
Total 16 pens, put 4 pens into one box, how many boxes are needed.

            She don't get it... :(:(

Dont get too worry............most kids are careless.........mine also careless....i believe they will overcome as they mature.....actually kumon train the child to be carefulllll....becasue they made the child redo the sum if get wrong....also train the child to be patient...no joke if get one wrong ....got to redo whole paper......must have deep pocket to put careless child in kumon, the child may get stuck in one level for very long time... :stompfeet:

for me, i am more worry if the child doesnt know how to read.....english/chinese........if they have strong foundation...i think math and science will come naturally. for your dd at this age to use fingers is natural becasue she doesnt know mental calculation....unless u send her to abacus/kumon... just look can give answers straight away.
but do we want to stress our kids to go sum so fast........by p3 onwards....no more so simple +/-/x will be concept.......language comes in(understanding the question).... if your english is no good hard to understand the question lei sometime..........

Hi Rex, thank uโ€ฆ Im so happy when BPPS called me on Thursday ard 3pm and told me there is vacancy for my DD1. How is your PV? Still left 12hrs?
Do u have a back up plan for next year? I feel that it will be balloting within 2km in P2B againโ€ฆ[/quote]

                        Hi mummy of 3,

                        Sorry for later reply.

I havenโ€™t receive any email from Mr Yusoff recently, I still have 12 hours PV to go.

Currently I donโ€™t have any back up plan for next yearโ€™s enrollment, as BPPS is the only school within 1 km from my home.

I hope that it will not be bollating wihtin 1km in P2B next year.
