Is it $4 per trip?
The school buses will fetch your DC home after the enrichment classes/ECCA. $4 per trip (hope no increase next year!).dimsum:

We're considering after-school care to take care of the logistics of having enrichment classes.
Thought it's $20 per month.[/quote]Oops! Hope my son's school bus uncle is not reading this thread
He charges on per trip basis which is definitely cheaper than monthly fare of $20 for a student who stays back only once a week. In fact, P1/P2 ECCA is around 10-12 lessons per semester only. -
I think $20/mth is more worth for those who are staying back for more than 1 day.

:congrats: geniceHi parents, my ger was just successfully balloted in on Friday!

Can I check w the existing parents is there a need to send kids to enrichment classes like TLL when she starts sch?
Any parents w kids that actually manage to cope w the sch work without much external help , just parental guidance except maybe upper primary?
Any advice for new parents of nyps?
TIA for any valuable input!
As to your question on whether there is a need to send kids to enrichment/tuition classes, IMHO, they are a want, not a need. For P1, guess it depends on how kiasu/kancheong/insecure you feel?
My P2 boy has English enrichment since P1. I personally coach him for Maths & Chinese. Guess what, his English marks were the lowest among the 3 subjects for P1. So I think Mummy/Daddy's learning lab is more effective than external tutors
Strong parental involvement is very important. Like in my son's class, there are kids who do not submit homework consistently (can even delay for more than a term), whose parents do not help with their poetry recitation (asked helper to teach). Their results are very poor.

Curious, how you know their results? I try possible not to ask my DS too much on others results. Knowing too much will create unnecessary

Hi,
Sorry, one more silly question… so if we do want to send them for E/CCA, and arrange for the school bus to take them home, will they be on their own after school to the start of the E/CCA? So they have to be able to tell the time, get their lunch, and make their way to the E/CCA location on their own?
How about the non-E/CCA days? Will it be a separate school bus arrangement?
I assume that on a day that E/CCA is not conducted, they will be able to take the normal (1:30pm) school bus home? So, either way, a school bus will take them home provided we sign up for both the 1:30pm bus and the E/CCA bus?
Thanks a lot! -
Wow! Glad to see the thread active!
All the E/CCA will definitely synch up with the bus drivers? How do we confirm with the bus driver? I am intending to place my girl at the after sch care inside NYPS. So if there is a sch bus to send her back I am not too worried. But I only need the bus for the E/CCA as hubby will be sending and picking her from school everyday. Anyone knows?
BTW, anyone knows how much is a set of uniform for girls and the PE T-shirt? -
Hi dimsum,
I have PM you.

thanks lovinglife!Justdoit:
Do you all know how they allocate the P1 classes in Nyps? Is it by phase like some other schools?
No. Allocation is randomly. 15 boys and 15 girls, as equal as possible. -

Learning Bliss is good. Teachers are friendly. Food is acceptable. They are quite on in coaching their work. Spelling and tingxie are being constantly tested. Each subject has 1 assessment book for them to do if no homework that day. Top school papers are given on and off. Tea break at 3.30pm, free play at 4pm, school bus comes at 4.30pm.
