Why wasn't this communicated to parents last Wednesday during MTP? Sudden change of mind? So for those not going to GEP and META, 3F and 3H will go to 4H whereas 3E and 3G will go to 4G. How about those from P3 MA classes but have done well this year? Stay in MA? Fair?
Checked with the P on P3 promotion. She confirmed that it is en bloc promotion. The so-called P4 HA classes are just combining 3E + 3G -> 4G, and 3F + 3H -> 4H, as VooVoo mentioned. She said that they are conveniently called 'HA classes' just because these children were from P3 HA classes. However, she agreed that these classes should not be called HA classes anyway because there are students from 3E,F,G,H who did not perform as well compared to students from other classes, and using previous guidelines of streaming children to HA/MA classes, these children would not have landed in a 'HA class' as they would now. So, I think the label is meaningless.

Why not just let our children learn and grow happily in their childhood years!

              VooVoo:

....P4 HA classes (i.e. 4G and 4H) are confirmed by teacher. In any case, I can't tell the difference what's so fantastic about HA classes...same worksheets as everyone else.

In that case, can't explain how \"HA\" a class can be if there are students performing at Band 3.

It's not about how fantastic a HA class is, but if the rationale for banding (HA) is to accommodate the learning pace of the students (assuming HA students learn faster) and adjust the teaching styles appropriately to these children, then it is important to group these children correctly (as much as possible), otherwise there will be a misfit in teaching-learning styles, and the rationale for banding (HA) will be challenged.

perhaps all these are part of the reason for the drop in PSLE performance....? no strategy no focus?
