May i know where can i get the information on the the class promotion from P2 to P3 and subsequent years, i.e. how it’s carried out? My dd is in P2 (2016) and I am not sure where she stands in the cohort. The form teacher told me as long as in Band 1 then is fine but I am not convinced. I really have no idea when is the right to push my dd harder. Thanks.

It varies slightly from year to year; the principal will clarify at the year-end-meet-parents session.
In general...
P1 -> P2 : just move up en-bloc
P2 -> P3 : Split to HA/ MA classes based on results and in the S-formation
P3 -> P4 : Split to GEP/ Meta/ HA/ MA -

Did you attend P1 MTP in Nov'15? The slides presented would show the highest, mean and lowest marks for respective subjects. That would give you an idea of how she stands in the cohort.
Remember to attend P2 MTP on 23 Jan. It should provide some info on the class promotion from P2 to P3. -
For P2 (2016) wat are the items to bring for first 3 days…?
My blog only states maths on Tue…sigh…so vague… -

Ur kid's class parents will probably form a whatsapp group for this after the MTP session in Jan.
That would be more relevant than a public group as each class will have the same timetable/ teachers and will be better able to clarify what homework was given etc. -

I have been reading about this S-formation. What exactly does it mean? (out of curiosity) :roll:kirstenq:

After all the kids are ranked by exam results, they will be put into the classes via a snake-pattern. May not be exact but basically is to ensure that there is no one particularly strong HA/ MA class. Something a little like this then the teachers will probably tweak here and there.

1 - A
2 - B
3 - C
4 - D
5 - C
6 - B
7 - A
8 - B
9 - C ... -
Thanks Zappy! Now i finally understand!
