Yes to your first question. And sorry I don’t know to your second question. I don’t think this school does open houses, but you can always call to find out.

Thanks! Is the after school care facility open to all students? I know some are specially catered to needy families ONLY. I am a working mom and needs BASC. Thanks!

I don’t use it so I don’t know. But here’s what it says on the school website:
Stamford CareHut is a school-based student care centre run by Care Community Services Society. Located within the premises of the school, it provides children with a safe and nurturing environment to go to after school ends each day. The Care Hut programme aims to build positive character values in children and help them discover their potential. Strong collaboration with Stamford Primary School’s management and teachers also allows CareHut staff to monitor closely the holistic development of our children. The availability of different school facilities (e.g. classroom, sports facilities) after school hours, further allows children to enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities.
Key programme features at CareHut include supervised homework time, holiday outings/programmes, character development programme and fun activities to spur children’s interest in learning. Priority for enrolment is given to children from low income and single-parent families. Eligible children can also receive government subsidies for the CareHut fees. -
Hi all
My daughter is currently in K1 at GUG, which is a fairly academically aggressive Pre-K/K curriculum. We’re expats, considering PR status (we’ve been here 3 years, no current plans to leave) but for the moment I’m assuming we’ll have to wait until Phase 3 to register.
They provide a lot of information about the reading program they use, and my biggest concern is that she will be bored. She is reading Magic Treehouse with me (she can read all the words, but is building stamina as attention starts to wander after 3 pages of solid text) and by end of P2, I expect her to be reading books like Magic Treehouse and other chapter books in that level or slightly above on her own.
They note that there’s some differentiation in English (in the extending learning stations) but have you guys found that to be true?
In Central I don’t have any other options as a phase 3 registrant, but we’re in the process of moving condos. Other options for us include Eunos, McPherson, Bendemeer, Farrer Park, Newtown, Queenstown, and First Tao Payoh. Are any of those any more academically challenging primary schools? -
Just saw your post e-r-mom. I wouldn’t call Stamford academically challenging. You could try posting your query in the Parents’ Networking Groups of each school you named so the parents who have kids there can advise you.

i almost reg my son for 2013 as i was told tt OLD GIRLS and BOYS from Stamford Girls' / Waterloo Pri / Selige Pri DO NOT require balloting !
me from Waterloo and late mum Chinese Teacher from Stamford Girls for more than 30yrs of teaching which was oso late mum's dying wish for my son to reg in Phrase 2A1 instead of Phrase 2A2 ......... then managed to spoken to Allied Educator ( Ms Samantha ) coz' my son diagonsed with ADHD ..... very happy to see the website for the OLD teachers whom I known from Stamford and Waterloo -less than 10 teachers still TEACHING ! Despite I residing in the east with at least require 60mins of train ride and hesitate very long long while.
My late mum used to babysit this boy and graduating from NUS ..... tis boy year was good, so long registered for Pre-Primary (wat so call K2) then can auto direct admission for P1 ........
Just to share ..... initial years of Stamford Primary School, many Koreans studied as there ain't any Korea Int'l School ...... then slowly have Int'l Kids registered.
To my personal view of any schools are depending on the child ...... Even branded schools like TNS , NYPS too have poor grades performance children !! I'm sourcing for mainsteam schools to have good team of teaching staff whom can handle ' special needs children ' like my son coz' he can't get into PathLight School ..... Btw, Stamford Pri School; Ms Samantha specialised handling ASD (Austism Spectrum Disorder ) kids .....
I also from Waterloo primary. Which year did u graduate? I graduated in 1983? -
Hi, any current parents’ children(s) are P1 this year? My girl is enrolled to this school at the moment. But by looking at it, makes me felt like changing school. This school sounded so boring to me cause my girl kept telling me that she is bored at school…
