yalor. If school able to teach him a way to perfect his compo and insist to keep it secret, as a parent i hv no concern. Thing is his compo mark is always low and have no idea how. Teacher only say not enough content. What is not enough??? talk only and nothing to prove/show. Don't know why this school has this rule.
You know , I have been asking myself the same question. I remember the whole class asking bout it but the teacher did not give a clear reason why they don't want to give back our compos. However, when I was in p6, the chinese teacher will give some feedback on your compo but still will not want to give us back our compos.kiasuMay11:
One thing I dislike abt DLS is Chinese compo is kept by school. Especially exam paper. Very tough to know what is the kid weakness and how to improve. Did have PTM but very subjective and advice given is very general. Compo not given back guess it bcos parent might query why the sentence is construct wrongly, etc.
I have requested to get the compo back but till now still not able. No idea why other school dare to give back and not DLS.

Oh, one parent told me that since it is a semi public school, I have to give donations every month, and that MOE will send the worst teachers to DLS. Is this just conversation pieces, or there is some small truths in it? (Not that this is a worry, but ....?)
This is not true!!! i have two kids in DLS. At time, they are given donation card to bring home to fund the construction. It's individual choice whether want to support. Quite a number of time we return empty.
PLEASE DO NOT listen to any of these NOT TURE comments going around yew tee and limbang or even CCK kopitiams, foodcourts, supermarkets, markets etc... The school has never ask for donations every month. My girl has been studying in DLS for past 3years 7mths, understand that the school started with musical in 2011, 2011 Fiesta at the holding Teck Whye site and donation draw till date to raise fund for building the school. Yes, DLS is govt aided school and not 100 percent govt school, so those parents out there should know that before they register they child to the school. We are just putting in the little effort for the school buliding fund. The children in the school will enjoy the new facilities and better enviroment. As for the teachers teaching in the school, they are all qualified by MOE and every teacher teaching in the school are very nice and the hard work they put in every class is sometime beyong our inmagination. Any information you need it's better to call up the school. Or if your are not working mum, you can join the PSG in the school cos i heard they are very supportive and nice to get along with. This is just my experience with the school. -

Now they go to different classes for chinese class. Not sure why they do that.. And I don't have details of the new chinese teacher now. Anyone with same problem?
My son also from 1H. They have changed new chinese teacher. My son did bring back a letter from the Chinese teacher with her contact given, not all teachers willing to give their contact though.
I do realized most of the time, the teacher did not update us when they took over our kids. My elder son now in P3, every time change Chinese Teacher and parents are not being inform.
I have feedback to the teachers, they said they will feedback to the general office but still no improvement in this area. I think is depend on the individual teacher. -

Yes, i have feedback couple of times, but the school is just not really doing anything...
And I do not like that they do not allow us to enter the school even after school hours, I felt not involved in my kids school/activities etc.. -

I give $1 per day. If CCA add another $1 per day. I give my son $5 on Monday let he manage it. I expect him to drink plain water only. It's ok for me if he want to use food money for drink but i don't give extra. With $5/wk for 6 yrs, my son can even save some money and at time still buy us MacDonald!Thanks, KiasuMay11 and all,

My girl want me to pack as she find it challenging to Q for food. I get small lock&lock tuberware, daily rotate bread/bun+cake/biscuit+marshmallow/chocolate with a pack of milk. Let kid buy is easier for mum compare to pack as u need to stock up food and has to pack and wash daily.
Student will notify which colored table for their class. No locker. Now school end at 1:45pm. school has chicken rice, fried rice, nasi, fishball noodle, nugget etc. -

Initially, I packed food for my son. But he requested to buy food after about a month. I wld give him $2 daily. Whatever is left over, he would put it in his piggy bank as savings.Thanks, KiasuMay11 and all,
