        Dear doratheexplorer:

I can borrow my son’s worksheet to you, but i suggested you not to let your son do the DLS papers. The DLS teacher will use the past years papers as "mock exam" for practice in the classroom. Why not you let your boy to do the Top School Exam Papers which can be downloaded from the web?

I will be away till Sun, pm or email me if you still keen

        Anna

To doratheexplorer : Call Joshua at 94244305. He got me a Chinese tutor for my 2 kiddos (Pri 1 & Pri 3) based on what I need and my budget. Very patient guy. Good communication from him.

To Kiasu Parent : From what I know, there are no school bus home for CCA. As such, I withdrew my gal who is in Pri 3 from her CCA. I don’t understand why the school encourage so strongly if they are not even helping with the transportation area.

To Anna : My gal did the past year exam papers from the top school last year (she was Pri 2). All was downloaded from internet. The disappointing part was, she did not do well for her school paper because the teacher told me they had raised the paper standard. I told her she was demoralising children like her who was just being encouraged to discouraged. Why I qs the teacher?? My gal did many pieces of mock up from the top 10 schools. She did not fail a single piece. In fact, she progresses from the different mocked papers. When it comes to DLS’s paper, she failed by 2 marks. That was how disheartening.

Jackprolinea : I totally agree about the sharing seats parts and the school’s bo chap attitude towards the children’s safety. So much for Character Building in DLS!

Anyway, it is nice to share with mummies out there…

                Cheers!

                  Hi! Tazyspin:
Failed by 2 marks? do you mean she scored 98% or 48%? if she can do the Top school exam papers, i believe she scored 98% and this was really good. My son managed to do the top school papers also but didn’t scored for DLS papers, anyway we already tried our best.

                    Hi Anna,

Failed by 2 marks for 48% lar... if 98%, what is that 2 marks. That was why I was disappointed that the school raised such high standards. And those top school mock papers she did, none was below 60%. So, you see how high DLS raised the standard. Sigh! I am not those mommy that I will push my kiddos to get high grades. As long as they progress every year, I don't really care how much they get. To be fair, they are already facing so intense pressure in school, do we really want to add more at home?!

Come on lar, there will be ppl better then the best. What is the point of pushing our kiddos so hard. These days, kiddos going to see psychiatrists are also on the rise. I rather have a normal child with grades that are to their ability. We must remind ourselves....it's what the child can achieve and not what the parents want just for FACE sake!

                    Cheers!

Hi! I think not only DLS, all the schools are raising their standard. I am a bit worry after reading your post. My son is in P2 now and i noticed that he is getting a lazy and not focus. Anyway, i fully agree with you, i rather have a normal child with grades that are to their ability.

Sorry, Anna…don’t mean to scare you… I believe schools have their own ways to manage their system. But if they use such method on the expense of the children to maintain their position, then it is not right.

My gf’s gal is in TP IJ. She’s very relax leh… and her gal looks stress free too… TP IJ is definitely a better school then DLS. In fact, they don’t even have CAs for Pri 1 & 2.

Anyway, since the kiddos are already in DLS, we juz hv to go thru the ups & downs with them…
