I was from class of 86. The school started back in the 50s. Would have placed my girl there if Haig Boys is still around. If not I will have to find another school for my boy. Had fond memories there.

Just found out that my P6 form teacher, Miss Rosalind Lee, is now a P3 form teacher. Am surprised that she remained with the school till now 😄 Still remember those days where she gave us tough maths questions that only a handful managed to derive the answers. Some of my friends passed the GEP exams but decided to stay put as they loved the school 🙂

Went to Haig Girls’ for the open house this morning. Like the school environment, my girl too. Was quite impressed by the two girl prefects who brought us on a tour. They were eloquent and seemed very disciplined. They answered all my questions tactfully! Somehow, can feel the school does emphasise on character building and leadership skills, not to mention creativity which is their niche. These two girls told us they love HGS, it is a nice and friendly environment. When I said my girl is shy, the girls replied not to worry as the school will help her build up her confidence. They also said they don’t compete for good results but study hard. One of them wants to enter RGS and the other SOTA for their secondary education. Looks like they have good results and clearly know what they want. Am definitely comfortable putting my girl there, looks like they have a holistic style of teaching - not just focusing on academic excellence. (I prefer HGS to Ngee Ann Pri after I attended their open house yesterday too. They have a higher percentage of boys. The school seemed noisy, maybe because the CCAs were taking place.)

            Hi,

My girl is in P1 currently. She enjoys going to school.

Like some mummies, HGS is not our 1st choice too. We are contemplating between HGS, TN & NA…but no regret for choosing HGS as I can really see my girl is enjoying & learning well.

Are there any mummies who have girls in P1 too? Let’s intro so we can know each other too…

              Hi bubbles

Mummy Lynn & I just got in HG today, both our gals will start P1 next year. Actually HG is also nt my 1st choice, I did PV for kong hwa which is the only school nearest my place but decided to give it up.

I decided to try my luck after I went to the school open house, was very impressed & I really like the environment & their holistic teaching. As I'm out of 2km, I'm really stressed as this year applicants seem to be much more compare to past years. Did contemplate to withdraw & go to tanjong katong actually.

it's great to hear that your gal is enjoying school & learning well. So looking forward to the orientation day to show my gal around the school :rahrah:

How abt daddy? :imcool: HGS was my second choice too and I don't regret registering my child there. Only thing to consider is whether to transfer few yrs later when we shift to punggol.

                  Hi mummychia,

Great to hear that! Congrats to u n mummylynn!

I believe we have make the rite choice for our girls.
With the correct n holistic teachings, that is the most we can help the kids to find in a school. Just hope for the best they can be.

Btw, y did u give up Kong hwa? I am intending to put my boy there when his turn comes. Care to show more? Thx

                    Wiltanws,

Hello hello…daddies r most welcome too!
My suggestion is to stay on cos it may b disruptive to your girl as she will need to mk new frens, adjust to new environment, teachers, culture etc.

                        Welcome daddy wiltanws :rahrah:

I also feel u should consider carefully regarding transfer, as your gal will be very rooted in HG by then. She will have to start all over again making new friends, adjust to culture change etc.

Yes I believe I made the right choice too 🙂
I feel KH will be too stressful for my gal. If my younger boy is my #1, I would put him in KH as he's a fast learner compare to my elder gal. I won't apply PV for KH again cos as of this year, they have increased to 80hrs!! & have also reduced the no. Of PV to abt 15, which is quite tough. Most likely I will go for tanjong katong since schools are limited in my area.
