      Hi all,

I'm an old girl of this school. i intent to register my girl (Pri 1 in 2013), however i stay at Thomson area, do u think its too far for my kids to travel to school?
Too far. Give the place to those nearer to the school. hahaha.
      Just joking.

I am only worried if there are too many of \"you\" registering their child for 2012.

        Hi minibu

Are u driving ur kid to & from sch ? U may need to consider time needed for u to drive or ur kid take public transport home (got MRT/direct bus?) after sch especially when in upper Pri.

My DD1 used to stay back 4 days per week in upper Pri for her supplementary, CCA, BICEP and math olympiad classes. My DH also grumbled his schedule was disrupted when he had to remember what time to fetch DD1 from sch (different days different timing) and sometimes had to wait quite a while if the teacher released them late. When she was in P6, DH asked her to take public transport home. So if u stay far from the sch, u have to consider your time needed (if u drive).

Hi minibu. When the school moves back to the old campus, the closest MRT will be Dakota MRT station. It's very near to gate three. However, you have to cross quite a few roads so you may need to be extra careful. If you need a bus, the only one I know of is opp Machpherson MRT where you can take bus 70 to gate 2 of the school.

The learning environment in Kong Hwa is very conducive. Hope your child is happy there. :celebrate:

                Hi Advisepls,

Thanks for your info. Will need schoolbus until DD is old enough as in upper pri than will let her try MRT.
Still considering due travel distance. 😞

Fyi, I’m staying 10mins drive from school now and I know a friend’s daughter who stays opposite my place, her pick up time in the morning is 6.15am! I was shocked cos my ds is still in bed at that time. The students have to be in school by 7.25am though.

Having said that, KHS will move back to Guillermard by Jun 2012 and it will probably be a single session school. I suggest you do some reseach on the pick up time from your place. Otherwise, your child may need to take lunch as early as 11am for afternoon session and probably leave home before 6am for morning session. At this point, I doubt the school can advise you on any changes to single session school timings but no harm giving them a call.

Personally, I find travelling time can be a torture to children. But I also know someone who stays in Yishun and send his children to KHS! So its really your choice.

                  Cheers!

                    Hi Pinkie,

Thanks for advise. Will check with school whether they will convert to single session when back to old premises. Due to travel distance, we are very undecided whether to let DD1 & DS2 study at KHS but really dun want to give up this chance for them to build a gd foundation. Schools near my place all need to ballot... 😞

Another option we're considering is to move nearer to school.
Anyone got bus operator phone no.?? want to check whether they pick up at my place.

It's important to send our kids to a good school (though may not be a top sch), 'cos from my DD1's experience in SEC 1 now. Eg Her SEC 1 biology teacher asked class to use mind map to hand up an assignment, taken for granted that everyone knows what is mind mapping. Most schools like KSH engage outside agencies to conduct mind-mapping courses but some \"neighbourhood\" schools (sorry if I offend anyone) did not conduct these courses and a few of my DD1's classmates don't even know what is a mind map and has to quickly learn from the others - disadvantaged.

Hope everything will work out well for you and your kids.
