I'm very sure many have complained as they can easily compare to other schools on how the assessment is being carried out. MBS is overdoing it. Why is there a need for 2 EL written expression assessment? Group poem recitation imo is assessed very unfairly. There is this boy in my dd's group who can't stand still for nuts and doesn't want to follow the actions and hence the whole group's marks have been affected. :rant:chasingjelly:
There is a review after each topic taught.

Oops so my guess was right. Actually it's not \"No more exams\" but the assessment is now more spreadout iso focusing on SAs only. This is good for those who have consistent performance but indeed stress for parents never ending exams.... I am already finding the CA and SAs for upper primary stress. Can't imagine I am gg to have a P1, P4 and P5 next year :nailbite:
Was about to have a career plans discussion with my boss. Probably I need to tell her that I want to stay in my current role for another 6 years????? until my youngest go to secondary and they will need me less :? -

I thinks so...and my dd said she only get 70+ overall .. ...For the classification paper, I think there are only 2 qns. So one qn totally wrong means the kid will only get 15/30..
Yes, I find it very :scratchhead: My ds got 45/50 for main paper and i believe his animal should get a good 20/20 as he said alot of his friends were given 20. But... his total score only 80/100. His FT still can tell him that she thought he could get A1 iso A2. So I am wondering where did the 30 marks go to???? I know he didn't do well during CA1 as he gave really wierd answers as he think too much during the classification that he gave non-std answers like poisonous and non-poisonous when I think they are only asking for no. of leg or something much more straightfoward.MMM:
..ya I think they are practising 'learn more teach less' for p3 science..and I am still not get use to it....so worried when come to SA!. Don't know how to coach my dd!!!
Do you know what is the assessment composition of P3 SA1 Science ???
50 is main paper, 20 for the animal and the remaining 30???? I can't find it anywhere. Is it the classification they did during CA1?
I realised that for science, alot of standard words that they should use. I am so worried about him as he tends to get too creative in his answers which is easily mark as wrong. -

That's true... but I feel that for work like that, it depends on parent's art & craft skills rather than the kids. So I dunno why it's part of the science assessment...(not that I am complaining) He told me that his art teacher gave him full marks for the animal. -
but I am worried that by using ‘learn more teach less’ method for sci…they will be lag behind…I think other schools’s p3 should have covered more by now…
emmm…frustrating…and wonder is it better in this way or not… -

my dd said her art teacher gave her 19/20...I had rushed down to Spotlight to buy the outcovering twice..........mummy so stress...hahaaaaaaavlim:

I am not so concerned with coverage or lagging behind actually. I believed MBS coverage is not little as compared to other schools. Eg. look at their science and vitamindz worksheets. The vitamindz worksheet gave me headache... Those are standards comparable to other top schools exam papers. But I do observed that different school do different science topics. Not all are the same. My kids' science tutor is a existing school teacher.but I am worried that by using 'learn more teach less' method for sci..they will be lag behind...I think other schools's p3 should have covered more by now...

oh, then u need not worry..my dd doesn't have any Science tuition..I am her p/t Sci teacher ..so v stress..Furthermore, the notes and worksheets were given back only two to three days prior to exam!

Actually difficult to say.... provided the tutor is effective as not all school teacher tutor can be effective. Science is really beyond us as we are the \"we hate science\" type. So we hope our kids will be different from us and don't get the hate science genes from us. So we invested in young scientists, science camps,etc... Fortunately for us, we got this tutor. But just week before exam, I sounded alarm to tutor as my ds's answer tend to be irrelevant to the questions. I had to just revise with him not to overthink on the questions and start giving wierd answers again
Yes... I observed that they get back notes just before exams and I also observed last minute practise papers too. Wow really stressed. Trying to revise and yet must do those homeworks..... -

ya lor..and my dd asked me why I spend so much time revising Science with her compare to other subject...I used those notes that are provided in a Science assessment and revision book which I bought...but as it combine with p4 stuff also..so don't know which part to skip... :skeptical: ..plus my dd being the girlish type.. trying hard to impart the science way of thinking into her brain is pretty 'challenging'..vlim:
