hi, thanks for your info.

Thank you.2818 - I am not so sure but I guess it wasn't a problem for him cos his wife is actually a teacher at mee toh. In any case, I believe it is dependent also on the availability of vacancy in the receiving school. Then again, if the student's results are very good, the school may still make an exception to accept even if there is no vacancy.
It's best to find out more from both MBS and the receiving school on the procedure for transfer. -

Admum - Picking up the kids one by one by the school bus takes time. i am staying in Kembangan area and if my boy were to take a school bus to school, he would have to board the school bus (mini) at 6.20am cos the kids have to be in school by 7.10am. Can you imagine if the school bus comes from Punggol or Sengkang?

Hi, parents with kids in P3 or above, how is the workload in terms of homework in P3? Is/are there any days on which all students need to stay back? Thanks in advance for your responses!

Recent cases heard from parents at MBS…
2 different groups of student , P4 and 5coincidently were having the same break time last week, were fighting for their rights to sit at the given tables.
They are from 4h and 5h if not wrong. Hand signs, arguments and one of the P5 even purposely spill a bowl of noodle to dirty the table so that the junior could not have the table even though they are going to leave.
As far as I know, they have to share the tables as they only have A,B,C,D E F G H …TABLES ALLOCATING TO THE STUDENTS.
what if the same thing happen again?
What if the P6 and p3 have to use the same allocated tables? Sure the p3 will lose.
Are the discipline masters going to do something rather standing at the gate to ask the kids to raise up your hands when crossing?
Lots of things happen this schools, all schools… But how the teachers and d.m going to punish the big bully? -

Hi csb,
Think I missed this posting.
So far P3 and even P4 homeworks appear to be manageable.
For my P3, he is in school band and badminton, so he stays back on wednesday (buddhist studies and malay), thursday (band) and friday (badminton).
Except for wednesday, the rest are CCA driven. For wednesday, I understand parents can choose to opt out of buddhist studies and malay. If so, kids do not need to stay back.
Not forgetting, some kids might have to stay back due to remedial lessons. But if your child is doing fine, then he/ she don't need to stay back. -

Is your child in MBS? I saw that you started a bully thread so wondering if you are talking about MBS or another school or in general :?
I personally feel that bullies exist everywhere (even in the best primary school in Singapore) and regardless of age. But as parents, we need to teach the child how to handle them eg. through role play, situation analysis. \"Fortunately for us\", we have big sized kids so they are less likely to be bullied. On the other hand, bullying others is a big NO NO as well. So it starts with family education too. -
I agreed with MMM. You have just enlightened me that I realised those who had been bullied were all small built classmates. My son in P2 this year and there already have a ‘gangster group’ form by some girls and boys since last year. Initially I wasn’t sure is it beco’s of his frame, big size that scared off the bullies but so far he is so good. I am now quite worried for my girl co’s she is consider small built and going to P1 next year. We have started to teach her how to handle those ‘gangsters’ and the childcare had also covered this issue to the kids.

\"Gangster\" group or \"Ah Beng\" group. My kids like to mention that. I personally choose to think it is \"harmless\" since they are only primary kids. Maybe those group of students are rowdier or has more behavioral issue but not to the extent of being a gangster or joining a gang etc...? I thought this would be more of a concern if they are in secondary school. Also, I feel that the way some of these kids behave maybe due to family issues at home though it's not entirely true?
My P3 ds is really on the big side. He looks like a P5 to outsiders... but he is not the tallest in the entire level... he said maybe he is top 10. He used to mix around with kids who has \"behavioural\" issues in class at the beginning of the year. They were seated together at beginning of the year hence friendships were formed. Eg. kids who are poor with homework/ results, talks alot in class and not concentrate when teachers are teaching. Glad the FT put in effort to separate them so we see improvement after that happened.
At our end, we had to \"educate\" him on choice of friends several times. Eg. don't follow your friends blindly. Use your own judgement and brain. I also put an emphasis on his homework quality and results. During term 1, he had the entire school bus waiting for him when he wandered off to play with his friend (never happened before) and I had to \"activate\" FT. He got it big time when he was back home. He also had to do reflection once due to being too talkative in class.... That probably helps. I told him if he does more of that, maybe his compo will improve. Fortunately, things change for the better when they are separated in class seatings.
He was made a class monitor by his FT few months back and was pleased with it. Given his built, I heard from dd that his friends want him to be the King of ah beng  :siao: In any case, I told him that being the monitor and since he is such a big boy, he need to ensure that he keep a lookout for bullying cases and ensure such things do not happen in his class. He shared with me some cases and I told him that he needs to tell the teacher and he has the power and physique to do something about it since they are \"scared\" of him.
