Maha Bodhi

Hi,
My son will be attending Primary 1 in 2012. Looking for private transport to send him back to Bedok Reservoir. The school appointed bus operator is not able to bring him directly into the carpark and the grandparent got to walk a fair bit which is tiring for old folks. Anyone else know of other bus operator that has smaller buses that can come right into the carpark of 602 Bedok Reservoir. Would appreciate getting the contact number to call.
Thanks.
I believe all children around this area gathers at Bllk 114, where there is a walk-way shelter from Blk 108. My block is 601. Has been so for 4 yrs now. -
Hi parents with kids in P3, can I find out what science textbooks the school is using? Also, what is the timing for the conversational Malay class for P3s on Wed afternoons? Thank you.

Hi
My child came back yesterday to ask if he can join "yu yan yi shu ban" for P2 next year on every Thurs 10.30-11.45am. Can anyone advise the nature of this course?
Thanks. -
This could be something new. Didn’t your child bring home any circular or write-up on the programme? It’s best that you call up the school and enquire before school closes, if keen.

I am wondering if this is the kuai ban/ CL S&D course conducted by Mdm Koh. This course is not open to all but on a selection basis by CL teachers.
If so, do let me know and I can share more as my kids are with Mdm Koh's lessons outside school. -

This lesson is taught by Mdm Koh. She is ex-school teacher. She is considered as a rare talent in Singapore to be teaching local kids kuai ban.
She came highly recommended by my dd's P2 CL teacher as the teacher who can produced results and she recommended me to try Mdm Koh vs SHHK S&D classes. My issue at that time was I felt that my p4 was not speaking out loudly so I wanted more exposure in this area. Mdm Koh also produced national level talent in xiang sheng and kuai ban.
As part of the course, the kids will learn recitation and play kuai ban at the same time. Emphasis is on pronunciation and rhythm. Mdm Koh is very particular. During our 1st year with her (after 6 months), I was amazed at her students' performance. When they performed, their chinese sounds like China Chinese. That kind of intonation but off stage.... these kids sort of revert back to their local accent
My friend was asking me if Mdm Koh is from China but no, she is a local. Probably in her 60's but still very energetic and has a way with the kids.
CL oral is 30% of total score at P4. Not sure about P6 but it is definitely a piece not to ignore. Through such exposure, the kids should be able to cope well in oral exam or recitation. Also with the recitation, they are expose to other CL words not in textbooks which they are expected to memorise. I recall when my ds was in P2 last year and had recitation, he tend to score very well as he can recite loud, clear and with emotions as part of his kuai ban exposure. He was made the xiao lao shi to read to the class.
I heard that what they teach in school may be lesser than Mdm Koh's class outside due to timing and continuity. Eg. my p4 is now learning 7 kuai ban (she started in mid P2) and there are other MBS students in her class as well. I observed that alot of her students are from SAP schools. Alot of them continue till P6 and some to secondary school as well. But for school, heard only till P4 or P5.
My impression is that you need to pay for the course but it's probably 50% cheaper than her class outside school. So if your child is offered and timing allows, you should seriously consider. It is not open to all.
My kids are having a year end performance on 20th Nov in Yishun. If you are keen to find out more before you decide, pm me. Will see if it is possible to get tickets as there are limits. In fact my K2 started her class with Mdm Koh since K1 as we convinced her to start the class for the pre-schoolers. It's good to correct their pronunciation before old habits are hard to correct. She just started on 3 ban this year.
I do have some video clips of the last performance but file size are simply too huge to send. -
Orange belt- I yet to recd any forms given on e issue u mentioned for my DD ;(( shall qns her this evening…sorry which CL tr from your DS class??
