It's based solely on english & maths results. the top 40 students with the highest total marks for english & maths will go to the best class.

So this could be the reason why the school needs to have a day off to process marks as they will need to total up the Maths and English marks only instead of all 3 subjects.

not sure how you define "streaming" but what i understand is that each year from p3 to p6 only the best students are put into the respective best classes. In a way, shall i say that they are internally "streamed"? official streaming i would say takes place in p4 going p5 where poorer ability students are officially "streamed" into the foundation stream while the rest goes to the standard stream under the p4 banding exercise.

above are what i roughly understand. i may be wrong or i may be right. let’s hear it from those with p5 & p6 kids.
Ya this yr p3 top class ... But next yr .. :nailbite: ... As her results ate slightly below class average ....

Hi vlim, so there is streaming at P3 too? Is there yearly streaming from P3 to P6?

From p3 to p4 use to have , but this yr don't know yet ... I have no idea abt p5&6 ... Maybe can check w mmm.
Hi,

My girl told me that the whole class moves up to P6 except those who are chosen to go to foundation class in P6. Example, if the child is in 5B, he/she will be in 6B next year...5C will go to 6C.. etc. 5A and 6A will remain as foundation class. Not sure about the top 3 (mixed abilities class) still remain in the same class in P6 🤷 . I will know next week when the report books are out.

              Hi,

I thought today the kids will be given the option form to select whether to take HCL in P5? Report books will be given out on Monday and return to school on Tuesday. Don't think today take report books. FT and principal still need to sign each report book given that it was just printed yesterday I think.

according to the term calendar, it is today. option form for hcl will be given out together with the report book. the only thing i am not sure is whether p5 same as p4 cos can’t recall exactly what the calendar says, only remember the date.

Maybe you are right. I only look at my girl term schedule and presume it is the same for P4.
